McCoy Burger Company - Toronto, Ontario

A fantastic little joint serving up some really tasty burgers which are comparable to those from The Burger’s Priest in both size and taste. I found the ones here to be less greasy than the later as well, while still retaining a similar taste. I like that the menu here ... is quite simple. You basically just customize your own burger choosing how many patties, which condiments and which toppings (regular and premium) to add. The fries here are okay, nothing great but also not bad. But the portion they give you is generous and is probably enough to share between two. Prices here are a nice change from the ever increasing cost of gourmet burgers as most menu items are less expensive than neighbouring competitors. The place itself is clean and has minimal seating. The burger selection is diverse with signature items and customizable items. I had the Mediterranean burger, prepared fresh. The lamb was succulent and prepared expertly. Ordered onion rings with it. Pretty good burger IMO. Be prepared to create a mess if you ordered the 2x4 as it is one huge burger. Meat is fresh and juicy. Wide range of condiments to choose. Only disappointment is the fries.

I had the double McCoy, the lamb burger, a side of sweet potato fries and a side of onion rings. Double McCoy is basically the regular McCoy with two beef patties, but the meat tastes great so an extra $2.50 for the patty isn't too bad. The lamb burger was amazing. Usually ... when I get lamb, a lot of places sort of dilute the gamey flavour of the lamb, and I'm left wondering what's the point of eating lamb. But this place keeps the flavour quite potent, which I enjoy very much. So if you like lamb, you may consider getting this one. I also had a taste of the turkey burger, and it also tasted pretty good. Not too sure how turkey usually tastes though. Their onion rings and sweet potato fries are nice and crispy, served hot out of the fryer. Last time the poutine really disappointed me, but the other items are great. And the $5 $6 price point puts them at a good spot against other burger places. They also had a 2 McCoys for $6 deal with the purchase of a drink, so that's something to consider. Read more
