Reviews for Ehwa Restaurant in Toronto, Ontario
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! "Banchan" comes with soy sauce vinegar firm tofu that's a little too salty, served cold. Butter and salted popcorn was good, and a cold macaroni salad with a nice chew and slight creaminess. Soy Sauce Boneless Fried Chicken - boneless dark meat, quite juicy and crispy ... exterior, although not the lightest mouthfeel. They were conservative on the sauce, which was sweet and umami. Comes with a small bowl of pickled daikon. Read more
Such a vibrant place at night and the food is amazing! We got so much food—yubu oden tang (not spicy), Chungyang cream pasta (mildly spicy but comes with a spicy paste on the side), crispy boneless soy sauce chicken w/ injeolmi rice cakes (sweet) and spicy chicken with cheese and ... rice (spicy). The portions are big so we had to take most of it home but, it is a delightful place to chat and take photos! The oden tang is definitely a favourite and we’ll definitely be coming back again! Fantastic experience at Ehwa. The service was quick and attentive. The initial free popcorn and shrimp chips was a great start to a fantastic meal. First I should note that this place has fantastic value for the money. The chicken portions were gigantic, and our sides were adequately sized for the ... cost. Our mains were absolutely delicious, and quick to hit the table. The sweet and spicy chicken is quite possibly the best bargain in Toronto, and amply sized for two guests. The chef came by and dropped off some complimentary sweet corn and french fries which was a welcome touch. We are already planning our return to this fantastic hidden gem. Read more
I went with my friend for lunch and it was a great experience! The atmosphere was cozy with velvet seats against the walls and historic decor. The service was amazing. We got a bonus side dish which came before the food we ordered. Our dishes came out promptly but it did not ... compromise the quality. For two people we ordered the cheese pork cutlet and the creamy hamburger steak. If you like both cheese and cream sauce, these are two dishes I'd recommend! Both were delicious in their own way. The cheese pork cutlet was so soft because the pork portion was the base for a generous layer of cheese! The creamy hamburger steak is a patty on a flat bed of rice, which makes for a surprising good combo. Sharing the two dishes was surprisingly a good portion for both of us. If you leave a review for their restaurant I'm told they give you dessert. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes on the menu! Read more
This funky little gastro pub surely knows how to make an impression. It is not much to look at really. It is located in a long narrow building with crooked stairs and sticky floors, the weirdest layout. It was especially weird because of couple of big parties, ... so I cannot make out what the inside seating was like, but I think there are more seating on the back space then the main dining room. I wonder what happens during those long winter months. The Korean offerings here are basically restaurant/street food. We tried some fried chicken, sweet and sour, deep fried to perfection with the right amount of breading and crisp, the sauce was decadent, mouth watering, along with a few deep fried rice cakes. The pork belly duruchigi had a good kick to it, basically just pork belly, kimchi, onions and green onion. The kicker is always the sauce, which is based off Soy Sauce, Gochugaru, Gochujang, Sugar, Maesil, Mirim and the standard Garlic and Ginger. It is nothing complicates but very tasty. The Spicy Chicken with Rice Cakes has basically the same sauce, then chicken was char grilled, it was awesome. I wish they serve just the chicken. The weirdest thing, they don't serve Korean beers but everything else! Overall, solid 4 ⭐, especially if you want to eat after 10pm and for a big group gathering. Read more
