It’s truly a gem in Kensington Market with many variety of flavorful pies, cookies, cakes, desserts and vegetarian food options. I really like the vibe in here; it’s cozy and warm and feels like a home. The staff are very friendly that positively contributes to the vibe. I thought I’d tasted pie till I came here. Wanda’s has the best pie ever. I asked for the most popular dish which was the cherry pie. I’m glad I had it. With actual cherries in it, not too sweet, I was finally exposed to my first genuine pie. I paired ... the cherry pie with a latte that was nearly just as good. Highly recommend the spot. Great service, lots of smiles. Atmosphere was lively. Read more
I ordered the 9" Peanut Butter Mousse cake for my husband for his birthday this year, and the experience from start to finish was such a delight! Emailing them for any inquires and questions is an absolute breeze. It was painless to get all the details needed to ensure you're ordering ... and receiving the correct product. They're very transparent with expectations on time (if you're on a time crunch) and work with your schedule as well if you need it! It's a quick credit card payment over the phone and you're all set for pick up. Stepping into this little cafe/restaurant really shows how much it is loved by the community. With all the tables filled and a mini lineup I already felt so confident about my decision to support Wanda's. Upon pickup I decided to also grab a small 6" size of their key lime pie (another house favourite, forgot to take a photo), and was on my way. These are the BEST pies I have ever had. This birthday pie brought my husband to tears (literally). Not too heavy, not too sweet - but so delightfully cream. This goes for both pies. Thank you for such a delicious treat Wanda's. I'll be back, again, and again. Read more
When I travel, I like hunting for food in places that show what’s special about that city or destination. So establishments with their own personality and are focused on using local produce will always capture my attention. @wandaspieinthesky, a charming bright bakery cafe that sits at a street corner, is a ... fine example. I had a chance to chat with the friendly ladyboss Wanda who was happy to share about what goes into her signature sour cherry pie (I had to ask because the flavour profile was not something I’d tasted before, and I mean that in a good way). She said they only use sour cherries (which they buy in bulk), sugar and almond essence to create the distinctive filling. Since the fruit lives up to its name, I enjoyed it most balanced with the add-on of vanilla softserve. Besides the sour cherry pie, they offer other fruit pies such as blueberry and strawberry, as well as nut ones like pecan. Savoury items are available as well but the pies which are baked right on the premises, seem like what most people walk in for. I also picked a slice of their carrot cake to share. Moist and scrumptious, it had an ideal amount of lovely lemon-kissed cream cheese frosting finished with coconut flakes. Very nice indeed. Read more
