My son picked up a frozen package of pea pastizzi as a treat so I cannot comment on the atmosphere or service … although my son did get a lesson on how to pronounce his surname properly, hence the reason for a 3 stars. My husband is Maltese ... and his brother was the King of pastizzi ! I have made them myself and was so excited when my son brought them home. Unfortunately, impressed, my husband and I were not. There was no meat in the pastizzi… peas yes and the filling of peas was pretty much nonexistent. Only a few had the signature rings that pastizzi are known for. A simple cafe offering traditional delicacies in the heart of little Malta. Between its old world atmosphere, basement memorial, and Mediterranean regulars this is surely the best place to get a taste of Toronto's Maltese community.

One of my favorite spots to visit when missing Malta! Great cookies, great coffee and my favorite the most amazing PASTIZZI!!! The fresh pastizzi are almost as good as my mom's pastizzi... Almost lol. They're better than my attempts at least, and much less labor intensive. Excellent layering of crispy flakes with just the right amount of fight. The cheese filling is seasoned perfectly. The meat filling is savory and deep. They ... reheat nicely at home, if they make it through the car ride! The bagged frozen pastizzi are also excellent. Follow the directions and you'll have a tasty outcome every time. I have been coming here since I was a child. The pastizzi has always been my favourite. I bought 2 dozen when I was last there. It was a nice treat.
