Reviews for The Bagel House in Toronto, Ontario
Nice chewy gnarly shaped bagels, just the way they should be! (Not the fluffy life preservers that other places call bagels). Had an 'everything' with plain schmear. It was delicious. Also tried a beef knish which was great too.
I recently visited Bagel House with high hopes, eager to try their reputed bagel sandwiches. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant, leaving me feeling both dissatisfied and significantly lighter in the wallet. For a total of $28, my companion and I expected a satisfying and delicious meal. Instead, we ... were served two terrible bagel sandwiches that barely justified even a fraction of the cost. First, let’s talk about the bagels. A good bagel should have a crisp exterior and a chewy interior. What we received were dense, flavorless rounds that seemed more like yesterday’s leftovers than freshly baked goods. The texture was all wrong, lacking the characteristic bite that makes a bagel worth savoring. The fillings were equally disappointing. My sandwich, which was supposed to be a classic smoked turkey, was a soggy mess. The turkey was scanty and lacked the rich, smoky flavor I was anticipating. My companion’s turkey bagel was no better. The turkey slices were dry and unappetizing. The sandwich also had a strange, off-putting taste, which we suspected came from the wilted lettuce and an overly tangy, industrial-tasting mayo. Service-wise, the experience didn’t improve. The staff seemed indifferent, bordering on rude, and it took an unreasonably long time for our order to be prepared, despite the café being only moderately busy. In summary, our visit to Bagel House was an unfortunate and expensive misadventure. For $28, we expected high-quality ingredients, fresh bagels, and a decent level of customer service. Sadly, Bagel House failed on all counts. We won’t be returning, and I would advise others to think twice before spending their hard-earned money here. Read more
If you're a fan of sweet treats, the Bagel House will not disappoint. Their selection of bagels is outstanding, with flavours ranging from classic plain to more adventurous options like a cinnamon raisin. Their signature sandwiches are also a highlight, with a melt-in-your-mouth filling. It's clear that quality ingredients are ... at the heart of what they do. Read more
Went here today with my boyfriend and it is both our first time. We are so excited to try their Montreal style bagels and it didn't disappoint. The bagels are baked in a wood fire oven and have that wooden smokey aroma to it which we love. We tried the ... Lox and cream salmon sandwich and the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and both are really good for the price. They are very generous with the salmon, smoked meat, and cream cheese. They have lots of varieties of bagels and cream cheese to choose from. Read more
The good: cool bbq pit to cook bagels. Food tasted fine. The bad: service was terrible, the person helping couldn’t process more than one sandwich at a time. Kept getting lost. Their menu prices are listed clearly, and says it includes 2 veggie items in their all day special. When I went to ... the cash, I was charged phantom cheese, multiple veggie items, and not the listed price. When I told the cashier, she said it was her policy. Some kid behind looked to be irritated that I was questioning the charges but when I’m spending 40$ on a meal, I would prefer to be charged what I expect! When I left, I realized they didn’t include my croissant. Staff are incompetent. Read more
