I’d say Queen Mother Cafe is a hidden gem 💎. I passed by so many times and didn’t think to come in until my boyfriend’s recommendation. The restaurant inside feels very cozy, reminds me a cafe in a small town. We both ordered their signature dish - ‘Ping Gai’ - it’s just ... excellent!! Soooo delicious. The chicken is grilled perfectly and the sauce is just amazing!! Would recommend to all my friends! They have good cakes too! Read more
Had a wonderful lunch on the patio. We both had the seafood hot pot, a switch up for our historical favorite Ping Gai. It was quite nice and we did enjoy it but may try something else next time....and there will be a next time. Queen Mother is a fantastic venue and we ... highly recommend it. Read more
It’s a must-try in downtown Toronto; one of the oldest restaurants on Queen Street. They offer Thai and international comfort food. And of course desserts. They also offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. They have a very cute and cozy dining area and a garden patio. The staff are very friendly ... and helpful. We ordered “Ping Gai”, which included grilled chicken, rice, salad and broth; highly recommended. The “Beefeater Burger” was perfectly cooked and seasoned and more than enough for one person. “Chicken & Shrimp Bah Me Hang” was very delicious and had a kick to it. We finished off our delicious meal with “Cappuccino Chiffon Cake”. Read more
Casual restaurant, delicious food! The service was friendly and the server made really good suggestions based on the flavours we liked. It was my first time here but the friend I went with frequents this place for lunch. Also cool to see the historical artifacts displayed in ... the window which were found inside the walls during renovations! We had the spicy Thai bowl and bah me hang, with the laotian hot sauce 10/10 Read more
Cozy, tight knit ambiance. It gets really busy during peak hours (evening service), there may be a wait time when you arrive. I’ve been here a few times and am happy to say that the quality of food has been consistent, along with the portions. Each time I come here, I ... always get the Ping Gai. The tenderness of the chicken, the notes of coriander, and the tanginess of the dipping sauce all interact extremely well. It’s light, refreshing, and filling as a dish. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anybody wanting to try Laotian cuisine. 4.5/5 stars Read more
