First of all, there are two sides to the restaurant, and the entrance is on the Sushi side. If you are coming for Teppanyaki and have no reservation, you need to specifically tell them that you are there for Teppanyaki. I still highly recommend that you make reservation. Next, as ... expected in the Bloor-Yonge area, parking is extremely limited. You can either try your luck and drive around, or just go straight to the Green P in Yorkville Ave. Once you are seated (but your group is not big enough), you kind of have to wait a little until your table is full, and again for the chef. Now, the service was amazing, and the food was pretty good. It was very interesting that (almost) everything has Wasabi Icecream in it. The fried rice was quite a bit more expensive, $8 extra I believe, but I would recommend that at least one person in the group try it. Read more
Great place to enjoy and experience teppanyaki. Service on point and the food was delicious. You really don't need the sauces as the food is already well seasoned. I would just get plain rice next time around and skip the $8 add on for fried rice.
Yamato Japanese is a culinary gem that promises a delightful dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you are transported to a charming space filled with the tantalizing aroma of freshly prepared Japanese dishes. The menu is a symphony of flavors, offering a wide array of traditional and modern ... Japanese cuisine that caters to every palate. One cannot help but admire the masterful presentation of each dish, showcasing not only the chef Edwin’s impeccable skills but also a deep respect for the art of Japanese culinary tradition. Whether you are indulging in the perfectly crafted sushi rolls, or enjoying the teppanyaki experience, each bite is a culinary masterpiece. The service at Yamato is impeccable, with a warm and attentive staff that ensures every need is met with a smile. The ambiance is serene and inviting, making it the perfect destination for a cozy dinner for two or a gathering of friends and family. They were very accommodating accepting my guests service dog. In conclusion, Yamato is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable Japanese dining experience. Prepare to be taken on a culinary journey that will leave you craving more. Read more
I came in around 11:45am and felt like I was the only person in the restaurant! They sat me down in the corner of the regular part of the restaurant and a sea of people started coming in at lunch time and the restaurant was full. I ordered the shrimp teppanyaki ... lunch and it was delicious! Not too salty and just the right amount of food and very well priced for getting soup rice and veg with the shrimps. The service was really good too! Would love to come back to sit at the tables and try the sushi. Read more
Very very very good fish - with actually somewhat reasonable prices. Service was so-so, and the place feels a bit cramped for what you pay. Nice joint, would go again, but the vibe feels like any other cheaper sushi joint (and this isn’t cheap)
