First time having sushi with raw green onion in it. The smell is overwhelming! I need to work after lunch. Luckily have mouth wash on hand. By the way they should have express checkout for people just grab and go. Makes no sense just waiting in lines with people who ... take time ordering. Read more
I had my first poke bowl ever here, and I’ve since tried poke from other places and I must say, this place really set the standard high. The salmon poke bowl was both refreshing and filling—on top a fluffy bed of short grain rice is a yummy array of toppings ... that compliment the rest of the ingredients. The salmon tastes fresh and bouncy, they don’t skimp on the tobiko, and the mayo and unagi sauce added just the right amount of flavour without being overbearing. I can’t eat avocado so asked to substitute other toppings for that, but it seems like a big perk that avocado is included in the default bowl without costing extra! Overall great bang for buck—at the standard price of poke elsewhere, you’re getting a very large and filling portion. Read more
Typically, I get my sashimi with a side of wakami from this joint during lunch. It is decently priced and quite fresh. Friendly staff members who often accommodate my extra wasabi requests. Miso soup isn't the greatest and it doesn't come free of cost unlike most other sushi places.
Umi Sushi Express (Toronto Premium Outlet). 3/5 $ - we had the bento box one with prawns and the other with salmon. The accompanying bits was rice, tempura vegetables, salad and ginger and wasabi. The salmon was a little smelly despite being deep fried. The salad was a little odd ... with a tangy sauce on top. Overall it was a good lunch bite to fill the tummy. Their slushy style lychee bubble tea was great but because it’s a slush style some of the tapioca balls froze and so became hard. Read more
