Food is quite disgusting. I had the shrimp and vegetables, asked for no spices. Still too spicy for me. The won ton soup in a cup was more water than soup. Rice was good. The shrimp, from what I could taste under a disgusting chemically tasting sauce, was good but ... the vegetables were extremely disgusting. They were NOT cooked and hard like rock. I know the difference between crunchy and NOT COOKED. I told them at the end of the meal and I was told that next time I should ask them to soften the vegetables. Does that mean I have to tell them how to cook in the kitchen and pay for it as well 🤷. Are there any decent restaurants in this city any more?? Unfortunately I haven't found them. On the other hand my friend thought this place was good and she had the same dishes as me. 🤷🤷 Read more
This place is very good and has been serving the community for many years. Best to go with a large group and share a bunch of different dishes.
Whenever we come into Toronto from Ottawa, we always come here for at least one meal! The restaurant is more spacious now that numerous tables have been removed due to Covid restrictions. The vegetarian spring rolls are the best spring rolls! No other Chinese restaurant spring roll compares. They put a small ... red dye dot on them to marl they are vegetarian. Other dishes we enjoy are beef with cashews, honey garlic spareribs and loo mein noodles. Friendly staff and lots of free parking in the parking lot in front. Read more
Szechuan Gourmet is highly regarded and was recommended to my parents by their friends. They were so amazing that they have since gone back twice before recommending and taking me there. It was easy to see how this place is so popular. The server did a great job in recommending some ... dishes and they were all delicious. We got the spicy curry beef spring roll, dry sautéed Szechuan crispy shredded beef, the hot spicy chicken, vegetable fried rice and house special fried noodle. Every dish came out within minute of order and tasted so fresh and full of flavour. Each dish had intense flavour and was so enjoyable. The spring rolls were not the usual thin small spring rolls you find at most places, but very big thick spring rolls deep fried to perfection. The shredded beef was by far my favourite dish. The servers are also very personable and chatty. They have passion for their job and strive to give each diner the best experience. I can’t wait to go back to Szechuan gourmet again and I highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Chinese food. Read more
I only did takeout which was very quick. I ordered Szechuan shrimp and scallops in black bean sauce. I was always meaning to try this restaurant since I miss the old Garlic Pepper Szechuan restaurant. The dining room, albeit small, was busy and bustling, normally a good sign. However, for ... seafood, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Both the shrimp and scallops were tasteless and seemed to suffer severe freezer burn. The scallops were so far gone that I mistook them for water chestnuts. The sauces in both dishes were not tasty. With a few spring rolls that were a bit burnt, but tasted good, I lost $55. I had to dump both dishes as none of the 5 people hanging out with me, who tried it, wanted it. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Read more
