I love chicken katsu. So when I saw the sign outside the restaurant, I was tickled pink with delight. This place is equivalent to cafeteria style dining. You order at the counter and I think most people take their food to go, but there are a couple of tables ... where you can sit down and eat. I ordered the chicken katsu. Everything was given to me in a plastic bag even though I told them I would be eating at the table. I got a bowl of miso soup that tasted more like slightly flavoured water. The katsu was very crispy on the outside, and on the inside there was barely any chicken as seen in the photos I took. The promo picture has the ideal katsu I would have loved. On top of that, they forgot to give me the sauce for the katsu so I had to ask for it. The chicken katsu was so crispy and dry that I didn't bother finish eating it. I can’t say that the food was bad. I enjoy what I ordered however I am not used to no be asked if I need water. The table was sticky and my friend dropped the miso soup we Clean it and no help from the stuff whatsoever. But the thing that I ... couldn’t get is eating everything in take out containers inside the restaurant. I am not a crazy plastic fighter, but this place is simply wasteful. Read more

Redeeming factors: Korean glass noodles were actually great, yam sushi not bad, lots of food for $12. Cons: the pork Katsu, the main "dish", is pretty terrible. The pork is so thin and they didn't use the traditional panko crumbs. Seems like they battered the pork to thin it out and ... increase the quantity, but I'd rather have less and thicker pieces tbh. I've ordered lunch here twice, both times as take-out. The service was friendly and reasonably quick. But the food is very bland and lacking flavour. The tofu bento box I ordered came with "deep fried" tofu, but it was more of a "greasy and super soggy" tofu dish that tasted ... like nothing. I still ate it, and it was okay, but for the price - I expected a bit more. I wouldn't go here unless you work in the area and your lunch options are super limited. Read more

Edit: down from 3 to 2 stars because the new owners have messed with everything that used to be good about this place. Chicken curry udon used to be my favourite, but now they don’t cut up the chicken properly, there’s hardly any curry, and they replaced the good veggies ... with cheaper stuff like green pepper and zucchini. It’s the end of an era I guess. Too bad. I’m a very active customer of sushi box. I get their chicken curry udon once a week and their bento boxes are good value. I was happy to see they were finally on the Ritual app. That said, their value has gone down recently for me. Take a look at what I got for 13.50 plus tax. That’s an embarrassingly small portion of sushi, especially since this was supposed to be a combo. Honestly, if you’re looking for sushi grab it for $7 down the road at Rabba.
