Really hit the spot for HK style lunch. The fishballs were awesome. The noodles and soup were really well done, and better than most places I've tried here. Pineapple bun was way bigger than expected but I think I'd have liked it better with something other than the satay beef. ... Next time I'm going to go for the dessert style instead. Hong Kong style dishes. Great for small groups for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or dessert. Portions are big for average person to get full and prices are reasonable. Food is up to par for Chinese food in the area. The wait staff is efficient and attentive. The breakfest combo is very good value, I highly recommend the sate beef noodles. It's been a while since I wrote a review on Phoenix Restaurant. However, given my recent visits, I am happy to write about my amazing time I had last month! After hearing many rave reviews of their trademark Hainanese Chicken on Rice, I decided to swing by for lunch to see ... what the hooplah was all about. I was seated immediately which was nice as this place can be quite crowded during the lunch rush. I ordered a plate of Hainanese Chicken on Rice and my goodness, it is in my humble opinion, the BEST Hainanese Chicken in Toronto. The chicken is succulent and moist while being perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spices and herbs. The rice is nicely perfumed with the broth and oil to act as the ideal bite with the chicken, ginger & green onion sauce and chili dip. The broth on the side is the perfect palate cleanser to fully enjoy this dish. Overall, it's one of my favourite spots these days even for its takeout for classic HK diner dishes!
