Not only was the food and atmosphere incredible, but the staff were so friendly and hospitable. I enjoyed this kaiseki better than the one I had in Kyoto! The food was so flavorful and delicious, the presentation looked like art, and the private room felt like we were transported to ... Japan. The food was amazing. Majority (I’d say all) ingredients are imported from Japan and very well prepared. What’s I like the most is the overall environment which can really make you feel like you are in Japan and experiencing the traditional kaiseiki dish. At the end the son of the ... owner explained to us their mission of why they open this place as well as recommended places to visit in the GTA if you like Japanese culture. I had such a unique and creative dining experience here. The presentation of each plate was beautiful and food was phenomenal. One of the most unique experiences I’ve had in Toronto! The hospitality, food, and education of Kaiseki tells a story of passion and dedication to honour traditions. My favourite meal was the fish two ways (picture below). This dish is simple but full of flavour. Looking forward to come back!

Kaiseki Yu-Zen Hashimoto was a restaurant I had high expectations for, given its reputation and hefty price tag (around $500 per person after tax and tip). However, my dining experience left me somewhat underwhelmed. I expected much more from this Michelin-starred establishment. On the positive side, the service was impeccable. The ... staff's attention to detail and hospitality were truly commendable. But when it came to the food, nothing really stood out. I expected to be blown away, and unfortunately, that didn't quite happen. While the presentation of each dish was beautifully executed, I felt like not enough premium ingredients were used to match the high price tag being charged. The flavors, while decent, didn't reach the extraordinary level I anticipated. I was also somewhat disappointed by the overuse of jellied ingredients in some dishes, which seemed to detract from the overall experience. While I don't mind splurging on exceptional dining, Kaiseki Yu-Zen Hashimoto fell short of my expectations. There was way too much emphasis on presentation, which I felt was what you’re mainly paying for.
