Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! Banchan - Kimchi had a strong fermented odour, not very fresh and store bought. The bean sprouts were crisp and juicy, but blander. Fish cakes were sweeter, smaller pieces, slightly softer. Seaweed were snappy, salted but had a slight oceany taste. Potatoes in sweet sauce ... were fine, on the blander side. Pickled radish were sweeter than sour, quite addicting and refreshing. GamJaTang - Fattier, super tender meat that falls apart in your mouth, meat and potato portions were slightly bigger than JSN, and also included perilla seeds and green onion on top of cabbage. The soup was a little blander but sweeter from vegetables. The rice was also drier and blander. Read more
This place has been around for awhile but didn't realize they had renovated the interior. Overall it was pretty good! They were pretty generous with the appetizers, refilling them multiple times. I think the price is a bit high for what you get in the shareable pork bone soup pot, ... but still okay. The seafood pancake was decent. They also can cook stir fry meat at your table for you. They don't split bills on weekends, which in my opinion is a little silly but the service was good. Read more
Huh Ga Ne is pretty decent if you’re trying to find a restaurant that can service a group of friends after 12am since tons of restaurants around the area close. Reading other reviews I didn’t receive stomach flu or steel wool wires in my food, so I’m glad I dodged ... that. I thought the food was okay. Was it the best Korean food I ever had—no. But manage your expectations if you’re going to a 24/7 Korean restaurant? If you’re eating a meal in the day there’s tons of options before you decide here, but if you’re coming here late at night and want Korean food then I would say the restaurant is alright (minus the steel wool and stomach flu reviews). Pretty mid Korean restaurant, not that good but food was fine. I’ve definitely had better but this was good in a pinch. They do give 6 sides but they all taste pretty bland. The quality of pork in the pork bone soup was a little too fatty in my opinion, I ... would prefer them to clean up the pork bones a little bit. There is a lot of pork fat and pork sinew compared to the edible amount of pork meat. Read more
Hu Ga Ne is on the top for the best noodle places in North York. The food is awesome, we ordered the glass noodles and beef soup. Everything was nice and the place was somewhat organized. Waiters were really nice and understanding.
