Reflecting on my recent experiences with individuals of South Asian or Indian descent working in the retail industry here in Canada, I must share a concerning encounter. Today, April 19th, 2024, I placed an order for a chicken soup and an ice cap through the Tim Horton mobile app at ... 11:50 AM expecting a seamless pick-up experience. However, upon my arrival at 12 PM, my order wasn't ready, leaving me puzzled. Despite the visible activity in the area, none of the employees approached to assist me during the 15-minute wait. Finally, an employee informed me that my original order wasn't available, presenting an alternative option with a noticeable impolite tone. Despite my understanding demeanor, as the minutes ticked by and it was now 12:25 PM, it became apparent that my order was not a priority. This, coupled with a perceived dismissive attitude, prompted me to request to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, the employee claimed to be the manager and displayed further resistance when I requested a prompt refund for the extended wait. It was disheartening to encounter such disregard for customer service standards. Furthermore, during the refund process, the employee attempted to provide only $5 instead of the $7 I had paid, demonstrating a lack of attention to detail and fairness. I hope this feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement in her customer service skills. Read more
** update Feb 2024: have continued to call Tim Hortons customer line as suggested by said " owner" in the response, the owner of the store continues to ignore the request for a refund or any acknowledgement of wrong doing despite the photo evidence. First off i want to say i ... have been coming to this location every day since 2013. In the last year, a notable decline in service became quite evident. In November 2023, i came in as per usual and ordered breakfast. The staff stood at the counter talking ( in their own language) and pointing at something inside the food recepticals. I thought it was strange so when i arrived at work , i opened my sandwich and noticed they had served me rotten food. I immediately called Tim Hortons guest experience number and informed them of this incident. I was advised i would receive a call back. A few weeks passed and no email or phone call was received. I called the guest line again, and this time the associate assured me it would be escalated to corporate. No response. I called a third time at the end of December and on Jan 3rd, 2024 i have yet to receive any response from Tim Hortons. The employees do not always wear hair nets when making patrons food, they blow into their gloves prior to donning them ( defeats the purpose of infection prevention and control especially given the risk of covid and other ailments excreted through the respiratory tract), they do not speak English when customers are in their presence. They also dont consistently wear name tags so its difficult to report them. This location has never been a 5 star location but the calibre of staff they have been hiring are so poor and lack general respect for customers and disregard basic sanitation practices and tim hortons policies. I was told on the last phone call with Tim Hortons guest line that each complaint is sent to the store manager/owner. The lack of response speaks to the accountability of management and the owner. I am posting this here as i want this experience rectified by an act of customer service. Serving guests rotten food can cause serious bodily harm and puts alot into question as to the practices of this location and what goes on behind the scenes. *** there is an older philopino lady who has worked here for years. She is absolutely wonderful, polite, courteous and goes the extra mile for each and every guest. She knows 99% of guests order by heart. She follows policy and should not be included in the group of poor performing employees***** Photos posted for proof as a warning to other customers since my complaint has gone ignored since November 8th, 2023. To the owner of this location........When is the last time you visited this coffee shop at the official opening time of 5 am ??? my guess is never. First of all, it NEVER opens at 5 am, normally 5:15....It is filthy from the night before. Tables and chairs broken, homeless ... sleeping at the tables and one member of staff to serve the first customers of the day. Whomever is doing the schedule for staff, is useless. Apparently at 8am and later, they think more staff are required....WRONG. The washrooms need a flamethrower not a cleaning service. The floors have not been mopped for a long time, very obvious. Question ? if at opening time, this place is dirty from the previous night, do you think this is what Tim Horton envisioned when he opened his first location 60 years ago???? Just a question of time before the Health Department arrives.... Read more
