The Boar’s Head Pub - Stratford, Ontario

Came in around dinner time after a day kayaking around Stratford, relatively busy- poor layout of seating. No sign stating that you needed to wait for seating, or seat yourself. Took staff over 10 minutes to recognize us standing at the door. Finally found seating, waiter came over and took ... our drink order and asked if we were ready to order- we asked for a couple more minutes. We did not see another server for 30 minutes. Finally placed our order, potato skins, Cajun chicken burger and chicken club sandwich. Potato skins had absolutely zero flavour, and needed to be coated in salt and pepper to be consumed, the sour cream was the saving grace. Went to go to the washroom with one potato skin left on the plate, came back to realize waiter had taken the rest of the dish (the saving grace sour cream). Cajun chicken sandwich was the saltiest sandwich I’ve ever eaten, it was supposed to include spicy mayo, however it was hard to tell if this was even present as there was almost a full cup of coleslaw on top. My partner had the chicken club, this was essentially 1 chicken breast, cut into 8 pieces and had a total of 1 strip of bacon. After we managed to stomach as much of the lack luster food possible, we asked for a box to take the rest. The young waiter (our third of the night) said no problem, and then proceeded to walk by our table to talk to his buddies about his college program and how he wanted to get cut early from work to drink Milly Lites with the boys. This is a place I will never give business to again, and when people ask where in Stratford they should get a bite to eat, this will be the spot I tell them to avoid. Read more

Love the pub atmosphere. Wish it was open a bit later, they only serve until 9. Lots of TVs for watching sports. The wings are great. They are huge compared to most other places. Lots of options on flavourings. It isnt a large location so as much as I ... appreciate live music it is tough to have a conversation when someone is playing. Read more

Great pub food in Stratford. The mac and cheese was the best I've ever had, the boar burger was juicy and flavourful, and the corn chowder was also delicious.

Came here around 3pm and was surprised that there were still quite a lot of people. It was probably because of the Stratford Festival and it being a weekend. We ordered 2 pounds of wings and 1 Boar Burger for two people. Was very pleased with the wings portion and ... flavour. They claim to be "Biggest Wings in Perth County" which is likely true (although not every wing has the same size, some are smaller than the others). The Boar Burger was pretty good too, but not as memorable as the wings. I was afraid given it was off-peak hours, the food would not be made fresh, but the wings came out hot and crispy. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the food. However, service was not as attentive. I asked for water and the waitress did not deliver until I ordered some beer. The wait for food was also longer than I thought. I would come here after a show, not before, just in case. Read more

Stopped in for lunch with my girlfriend on a Saturday. Place was super busy but we were seated immediately. Server was excellent food was incredible. My order was messed up but our server corrected it . I would highly recommend this place. I had the boar burger.... wow it ... was delicious. If you are in Stratford stop in you won't regret it.
