Sawmill Prime Rib & Steak House - Stony Plain, Alberta

The food I received this visit to the sawmill was terrible. The Prime Rib is chewy and grainy, the ribs had this awful taste. The garlic mashed potatoes were great which is the only credit I can give them for food. I come here pay 150$ and it’s horrendous for ... that price Atmosphere was nice, server was great, but fix your kitchen!! I come here rarely and every time it’s been worse and worse. Servers friendly and accommodating immediately upon arrival. Rib steak was cooked perfect, staff and manager very friendly and attentive. Several check up’s throughout the meal. Came back again the next day and everything was great.

This place is charming and service is very hospitable, the food tastes good and the drinks were nice. Steak and sawmill sauce was amazing. Plating was not the most pleasing and portion size and price left one wanting when comparing with others like the Keg Earls chop house ect. ... could have had 1/2 my meal packed up another drink and desert and paid same price. I attended a Chamber on Tap Chamber of Commerce event here. The food provided was incredible. Unfortunately 8 previously had a negative impression of Sawmill from a different location I had been to, but these location COMPLETELY changed my mind. I will definitely be returning here. Not only was the food ... incredible, but the service top notch. Even when the servers had briefly disappeared and I got up looking for a refill on my cider, the restaurant manager (I think?) immediately, without hesitation, came to my rescue and brought me a drink right to my table. I appreciate when a manager isn't too "important" to do such tasks. Anyway, I sincerely look forward my next visit, and doing so will be a very high priority for me. Read more

The restaurant has a great location. The lobby is large and inviting. The dining room was full so our group of seven was seated in the lounge. The lounge had a cozy and rich decor and the seating was comfortable. Our server, Elise, was excellent! She knew the food ... menu and was very proficient with the drink selections. The food was reasonably priced, made to order, and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed the selection and commented on how good it tasted. I highly recommend this place and wish I lived closer to visit again. Read more
