My husband is a chef. We make our own bread all of the time. Periodically, we run low and have to buy a loaf, to use until we get a chance to bake. Because we make all of our baked products at home, we often find bakery bread (although better ... than supermarket bread), overpriced and either too dense or too fluffy with an unusually thick and tough crust. As a result, I have never given a bakery a rating of more than three stars. The Georgetown Bakery is certainly an exception. I have given them a well earned 5 stars! The bread is balanced and delicious. The Sesame Seed Bagels are so far superior to any that are offered by ANY other bakery. These bagels are on par with the best bagels that I have had in Montreal, and superior to most of the bagels that Montreal has to offer. We have lived in St. John's for 8 years now, and just had my first visit to Georgetown Bakery yesterday. It will certainly not be my last (the first time that I can honestly say that about any other bakery in town). Many thanks for the fantastic product! Read more
