13th Street Winery in Niagara is one of our favorite wineries to visit. We absolutely love the tranquility and peacefulness of the country drive to get here. Even once you arrive and park, you continue to feel that carefree country vibe. No matter which direction you head, you are almost ... certain to encounter friendly staff who make you feel welcomed. Oddly enough for a winery, they are widely known for their delicious butter tarts—and rightfully so, as they are by far the best I’ve ever had. The food is always crafted nicely, with presentation matching the expectation and delivering on taste. We love sitting on the grassy area near a tree, having lunch while enjoying a glass of wine. An excellent stop on our Victoria Day road trip. Recommended by family we visited for our first time. Very impressed! The slogan of "wine, food and art" is a perfect description of the 13th Street experience. The tasting room is very spacious and has a covered porch for outdoor ... sipping. There are two large pavilions for dining (and wining...) plus lots of other outdoor seating areas. The bakeshop is a must visit, and the shop has lots of unique items (not all of which relate to wine). I was particularly impressed by the art, mostly sculptures, found throughout the grounds. Time pressure ruled out the gallery this time, but we'll plan better next time. Our host in the tasting room, Allan, was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Great experience and very cheap wine tasting! The free art gallery and samples in the cafe were also nice and unexpected. Seating outside is nice when the weather is good. Splendid experience at 13th St Winery during the ice wine discovery pass tour. Plenty of parking, and the grounds are pretty large as they have several buildings, an outdoor patio, and outdoor art exhibit. The ice wine tasting took closer to the back -a choice of an ice wine or ... cocktail, with a food pairing. What's neat is that they also have a small bakery at the side with different homemade products plus others. Definitely worth checking out. Read more
