Charley’s Steakery - St. Catharines, Ontario

I have had the privilege of having real cheese steaks before. Let me be clear by saying nothing in the area comes close, but there are a couple places I am willing to settle for. This is one, (the other being Franks). In my heart I know they are not ... great here, it is a chain so I guess my bar is lower, but I love them. I can't believe I paid $20.61 for a regular cheese steak combo. First of all, the sandwich it self was small, I asked for everything on it, couldn't taste the onions(very little onions) there was 3-4 pieces (very small) of green peppers, barley any lettuce and 2 slices of tomatoes. ... If you are going to charge these kind of prices STOP cutting back on your items, when a customer opens or bites into their sandwich, they want to see or taste the items they requested. I had the pleasure of being served by Steph. She was cheerful and friendly with great customer service skills. I had recent dental work done and she was extremely helpful with finding an option I could eat. As a person who reviews many places I visit this is the worst review I have had to write. Maybe it was the time we went to eat (around 8pm) but the regular sub was $12.99 plus tax, dry and not alot of meat for the price. Staff was helpful ... but did not make up for the experience. Really respectable Philly Cheesesteak expect for one issue the steak is dryer than one would expect. Because of this -1 star. Excellent bun, meat decently seasoned; lettuce, tomato and mayo toppings enhanced the overall product but please note this is not to the level of Philthy Philly's. Gentleman ... preparing the sandwich was very helpful and gave it a Philadelphia vibe. The regular fries were surprisingly good so I highly recommend the combo.
