How have I lived in the City of St. Catharines for most of my life, yet never went to St. Joseph Bakery on Facer St. up until last week? Today was my second visit. I got a submarine sandwich both times on my lunch break. They have so many European treats, ... including housemade, cold salads (macaroni, potato, and the best green coleslaw ever!), Polish donuts, amazing subs and sandwiches, a multitude of baked sweets, sausage rolls, European grocery items, and delicious iced tea and lemonade options. Today, on my second visit, I decided to buy a frozen lasagna. I just ate this deliciousness a little while ago. I’m not exaggerating, but that was the most delicious frozen lasagna I’ve ever had. The prices are really reasonable too. 50+ years in business and I somehow missed it. There’s just something about an authentic European bakery/deli that transports me to Kensington Market in Toronto in my mind. It’s magical. My new lunch spot is officially locked in. Wow, WHAT A SUB! We had an 8" and 12" oven roasted turkey with the works. It reminded me of subs I used to get as a kid. The turkey was sliced fresh and heaped on. The bun was super fresh, too, and very soft. Highly recommend.

So glad this is in my town! The kind lady behind the counter helped us find the right cheese and even recommended some lovely pork fat to cook with our scrambled eggs in the morning. Support your local bakery!

Sandwiches are amazing and made to order. Fresh tasty and done quickly. Generous portions. Bakery items are so tasty but a bit expensive. Breads are so fresh especially in the morning. Deli meats are great and at a good price. Clean facility. Shopping carts available. Very friendly and helpful staff. No ... WiFi. No. Credit card surcharge. Parking is limited in front of the store.
