Porta Romana - Spruce Grove, Alberta

My wife and I recently visited Spruce Grove. We googled best restaurant and Porta Romana was the number 1 recommendation. It did not disappoint! We were greeted by very friendly waitresses, who were dressed very nice. They were easy to speak with and were not pushy. They allowed us to take ... our time to read through the menu thoroughly. We shared Fresh Salt Spring Mussels and Carpaccio Di Manzo for appetizers. The wine sauce was outstanding. Mussels were plump and perfectly cooked. The carpaccio had a horseradish aioli that complimented the arugula and cured beef perfectly. For our mains, the wife had a Seafood Cannelloni (was the evening special). Fresh, in house made pasta was excellent. The mix of lobster, shrimp and scallops mixed with an elegant stuffing that was light & not heavy. Delicious! I went with the Spaghetti Al Frutti Di Mare. Again, the seafood was cooked perfectly, the shrimp tender. The mussels plump and full. We took the sweet endings sampler to go, but I’m sure it will be as great as the rest of this meal. Our first visit and it was excellent. If you like fresh from scratch Italian food this place is where you need to be! Absolutely friendly and personable service, in a really nice dining area. Very reasonable prices for great food. From start to finish, the bruschetta appetizer with fresh ingredients ... to the in house made pasta mains and the unbelievable decadent meringue desert we had the best meal out. I’ve been coming to Porta for quite a while and the food has always been excellent. Marco had served me the majority of the times I visited and the service he provides is always outstanding. Had the Portobello au Gratin, Bruschetta Milano, Crusted Halibut and Tiramisu. Definitely the best restaurant in the Parkland County region. Absolutely delicious. So good and a definite must try if you haven’t been there before. I will be back.

Great dinner at Porta Romana which is a family run dining establishment in Spruce Grove. The food is wonderful. Extremely generous servings and delicious flavors. The space is cozy and more of a traditional dining space. Our server was wonderful but had to switch out at the end of the evening. Our second ... server was a bit too attentive and seemed very awkward in her delivery.
