Swiss Chalet - Spruce Grove, Alberta

We had the Roast Beef dinner. It was delicious and the portion matched quality/price ratio. Our Server was polite and professional. Kudos keep the good work. Update: Today I tried Rotisserie Stir Fry. It was delicious a little spicy and sweet.

Disappointing Experience at Swiss Chalet With the cost of living at an all-time high, treating my family to a special meal should be a delightful experience. Unfortunately, our recent Friday night dinner from Swiss Chalet was the biggest mistake I've ever made. We usually love Swiss Chalet, but this time, it ... was a complete disaster. First off, the chicken was so dry and tough it was almost inedible. My wife, a former waitress who worked at Swiss Chalet, pointed out that the meat had likely been left in the warming drawer far too long before being served. This was unacceptable for a meal we were eagerly looking forward to. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the ribs were another disappointment. It seemed like whoever prepped the meat used a dull butcher knife, resulting in multiple cuts at the same spot. This left us with small pieces of bone in almost every bite, making it a hazardous eating experience. Thankfully, none of us injured our mouths or choked on the bone fragments, but it was a close call. Spending nearly $100 for a meal for two adults and one child, I expected far better quality from a renowned brand like Swiss Chalet. This was an incredibly disappointing experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Given the recent closures of several Swiss Chalet locations, I can't help but wonder if this one is next. Anne is a great server, her personality is bubbly and she has a great sense of humour. Wow! The food is certainly always made with fresh vegetables or meat. My friend and I frequently eat at Swiss Chalet and I’ve never been disappointed. They have a new Lava cake with ... ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Very satisfying experience. On this visit to Swiss Chalet in Spruce Grove, I ordered the Smoky BBQ Rib Sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side, and it was fantastic! I really wanted to have a change from the usual rotisserie chicken. I would highly recommend this dish if you eat pork, ... and other items that come on it. They have a good choice of sides as well. Went for supper with my mom and sister. I had the 1/4 chicken dinner, Mom had the chicken poutine and my sister had the chicken strips. The staff were accommodating with my sisters wheelchair when we were seated, but then sat some other customers in a table very close to us ... which made it difficult to get out. Not sure why the server or host did that, but maybe we had just outworn our welcome. We did visit for a bit after eating, but it wasn't really busy and there were still lots of tables. This isn't a complaint, just an observation. The food was great They had a special which can be seen in my menu pics, which basically added shrimp to a chicken dinner. The shrimp was very good also. The chicken was smaller than I expected, but ther meal was still enough for me, and at $20, was a good value. If you're a big eater, you might be better off with the 1/2 chicken dinner option.
