Haven't been there for a while but annoyed that I have to drive into Edmonton every time I want a decent fish and chips. So decided to finally leave a review. There used to be a solid staff but when these owners took over they made bad decisions and drummed out ... all the experienced staff. There was a girl being trained by an experienced staff member and she would argue with him and treat him poorly. My wife and I could hear everything that was said in the kitchen. The food was still good as the experienced staff member wouldn't let standards slide. He didn't last long, a short time after he left my wife and I stopped in. My wife loved their clam chowder but with the changes she asked if it was still made in house and the girl serving hesitated then said "yes". My wife got the soup and she knew it was Campbells out of a can. She asked if it was Campbell's and the server admitted to lying. My fish was soggy. We went one more time and I was asked do you want your batter crispy? I didn't know what to say to that as there is only one way to serve a fried fish. Batter golden, and fully cooked on the outside, fish cooked perfectly flakey meat, and melt on your mouth on the inside. That is not what I got this time the fish was dry. There is no hope for this place. I almost forgot they used to have a boat with an inflatable man in it on their roof and it looked terrible. The city had asked them to apply for a permit for the signage or take it down. They were asking patrons to sign a petition to let them keep the sign up. I asked how much was it for them to get the permit they said the city would charge them $80.00. We asked why not just pay for a permit? They said it was too expensive. We did not sign the petition. I assume they didn't get the permit as they let the inflatable man half deflate and left it up there for months before taking it down. No respect for the community at all and the food is trash good job Dochertys! Read more
