I love buying cakes from La Rocca! I have previously ordered cakes for family birthdays and my birthday cake - La Cioccolatona also came from there, this year! However, my only complaint is that they have terribly slimmed down their options.. earlier there were several amazing options to choose from. I ... myself have purchased a Rainbow cake and an Animal themed cake from there but now those options aren’t available anymore. The first time I had one of their cakes (caramel crunch) was on my 30th birthday when my hubby surprised me with it and it easily became my favorite. Finally I had the chance to visit this location and try a couple others (strawberry shortcake and carrot cake slice) which bother ... were just as good. I haven't an opportunity to try any of their drinks yet but maybe next time. This location is at a small strip mall but convenient to get to with tons of parking. The store is kept super clean and staff is friendly. This is more of a take out spot so if your getting a couple things to try like we did be prepared to eat in your vehicle or find a nice little spot around the area. Where they lose stars is pricing. I understand everything has gone up with covid inflation but it doesn't make sense to me that getting their cake at one of their locations is more expensive then getting one of their cakes at a local grocery story down the street. For example I saw LA Rocca cakes at a yummy market and Coppa's near me and both sold their cakes for $2-$3 cheaper. You would think if your buying it directly from the source you would get better pricing then a 3rd party seller. However the quality is good and honestly a beautiful addition to any celebration. I want to recognize the team at La Rocca Creative Kitchen – Richmond Hill location for the exceptional service, especially to Isabelle and baker Mara who went above and beyond to look after their customer. I walked into the store on Sunday, Jan 28 panicking and hoping there ... is something I can get from the store to solve a situation. I have ordered a custom cake from another baker and the cake turned out to be a disastrous. This cake is an important centre piece required by 2pm on the same day, and a gift to a birthday boy - cake theme is Minecraft. I walked into the store not expecting much but to see what cake in the store can I buy to replace the custom cake, and if possible closes to Minecraft theme. Isabelle noticed my helpless face and came over to inquire if I need any assistance. I mentioned my situation to her, and she immediately reacted to it and recommended few options. I didn’t have much choice, but to get something on displayed as it is too late to do any customization. I placed my order and came back after an hour. To my biggest surprise and excitement, below pictures is what Isabelle, Mara and the team at La Rocca Creative Kitchen – Richmond Hill location surprised me with...they customized the cake in less than an hour and it is Minecraft theme!!! What truly stood out, was the unexpected extra touch that the store added to my order - beautifully arranged and equally divine in taste. This unexpected gesture showcased their commitment to not just meeting but surpassing customer expectations. They really went above and beyond and saved the party. I am so, so appreciative of the team going more than an extra mile - to help, listen and to empathize their customer. Thank you again Isabelle, Mara and team. Everyone at the party enjoyed the cake, and the pictures with the cake turned out just perfect. Picked up six mini cakes and six macarons for tonight’s countdown party. I added captions to each picture for everyone’s convenience if you need something last minute for tonight or tomorrow(they are closing at 5 pm and will be closed for the next few days). Place is busy with people ... like myself getting ready for year-end parties, but I ordered online in advance so there is much less of a wait. The total bill comes to $70 for everything pictured, not too bad given the amount of work required per cake. It is still well stocked when we go for pickup but they may be gone soon. I’m so glad this place reopened. It’s my go to for buying cakes! I love the variety, as well as the dairy free options (love also hope they are individually wrapped to avoid contamination)! The mini individual portion cakes are really good. My fave is the ricotta cheesecake… ... so velvety. Everything that I have tried have been very good. Highly recommend. Read more
