Dynasty - Richmond Hill, Ontario

***Update January 2022: The owners of Dynasty Chinese Restaurant have retired. The new owners are changing the name to DynasTea Poke and Boba. I will miss Kelly and her husband's food terribly, but I wish them all the best! ** This tiny hole in the wall restaurant ... is the classic "mom and pop" business that I am proud to call myself a regular at. Kelly is an absolute sweetheart, and anyone who says they have received rude service must be talking about the Dynasty Chinese in Yorkville, in downtown Toronto, not this restaurant in Richmond Hill. I have made the trip here for takeout when I lived 5 minutes away, then when I lived 1 hour away, and now when I live 15 minutes away. If you are placing a large order, give them extra time, because being a mom and pop, it isn't a huge kitchen, and they make everything fresh, so it takes some time. Everyone has their own favourite dishes but ours are: Egg Rolls (bean sprout filling instead of cabbage which is what we prefer) Pan Fried Meat Dumplings (tip: they get soggy in the container, so I heat them in a dry fry pan to crisp them up at home) House Special Spicy Beef (you won't find this delicious dish anywhere but here, with beef, snow peas, mushrooms, onions and a spicy, tasty sauce - it's the house special and delicious! If you can't handle heat just ask them to make it mild) Shrimp Fried Rice (lots of shrimp and it is so tasty with the Spicy Beef sauce!) Vegetable Delight (A great variety of stir fried vegetables) Egg Foo Yeung (lots of shrimp and their sauce is packed separately and is the best around.) Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (They do this delicious classic right!) Sweet and Sour Pork / Chicken Balls (Both are excellent) We have found that most of their Szechuan items aren't our favourites, so we tend to stick to the Cantonese/North American style dishes. This is the best chinese food in Toronto/The GTA! And I finally am proud to say, I feel like I've nailed the best order from Dynasty: 1. Garlic Noodles - a great base to add the following 2 dishes with 2. Beef Broccoli 3. Chicken Cashew 4. Wonton Soup - so nice and warm esp ... on a cold day when you're craving a nice light soup with delicious wontons 5. Fried Dumplings - totally taste homemade, hearty and delicious. Also, I love Kelly. I know from the reviews, people have complained about it being super busy and taking a long time so insider tip: Definitely call in advance to order, and then give them time! Don't be rushed so you don't have to wait and it'll be ready for you. It's a great thing for them to be busy and this is a legendary and iconic spot in Richmond Hill. My boyfriend, Mike, and I live downtown Toronto - we technically could order from any asian restaurant (anything located in Chinatown has got to be authentic and delicious); however, my boyfriend grew up in Richmond Hill and we know and trust Dynasty and once you find a great place for ... Chinese, there is a distinct taste and flavour that is hard to fully satisfy unless it's THAT exact same restaurant. So we drove approx 45 mins to 1 hour to go to Dynasty in Richmond Hill, having called in our order over the phone, to pick it up and got our favourite dishes and it DID NOT disappoint. It was so delicious. Kelly who took our order, is always so kind, fast and awesome. And the food was just delicious on delicious on delicious and we would really say the best asian/chinese food in Toronto. There's nothing like it. Our #1 fav dish is: cashew chicken AND their Wonton soup is jam packed with Wontons and so fresh and homemade! We can't wait for our next order and can't support this family business that has been a Richmond Hill iconic staple restaurant, enough! Read more

This has been my go to chinese food spot since childhood! I've since moved out of the area but routinely make the trip to Richmond Hill to satisfy that craving!! Kelly really treats you like family!!
