Reviews for Prata Man Restaurant in Richmond, British Columbia
Our craving for Southeast Asian food brought us to Prata-Man Singaporean Cuisine. Got the Hainanese Chicken with rice, Chicken Curry with crispy roti, BBQ Pork Satay with peanut dip and Malaysian-style milk tea. Only the Hainanese Chicken was good, BBQ pork satay was tough, and the chicken was bland but ... the curry sauce was good. Food quality is not worth the price. The dining menu is more expensive than the take-out menu. The service was terrible. The server was grumpy and rude. The dining area is small and messy. I am very disappointed and not coming back. Not quite authentic Singapore food. Laksa is a bit too salty. Chicken is fair. However, the price is good and affordable.
When you walk in, don't line up to order food. We did and got yelled at. The reason was because we thought we had to order the food, pay for it and wait for it to be delivered to your table. That's how it works at the food court and ... at Mama's Dumplings. Maybe if they had a sign over the counter that read 'takeout orders', we would have known better. We dined in so we sat down and waited for the waitress who wiped down our table and walked away. We were lucky to had picked up the takeout menu while waiting in line. We ordered half of the hainese chicken, roti, and a dozen of beef satay. The Hainese chicken was good, especially the bowl of soup that came with it. The roti was store bought, frozen and not freshly made. The beef satay was tough. Perhaps if they cube the beef, It may have been more tender. When we got the bill, everything was at least $4 more than the prices on the takeout menu. We asked why? They said takeout is cheaper because they only serve the soup if you dine in. Takeout is the way to go. Read more
It's very bland. Bad presentation on the tahu goreng. The sauce didn't fit with the tofu at all, and the beansprouts only got in the way. Tofu pieces far too big, bad fried bit ratio and for sauce purposes. Curry fish balls are uninteresting. Hainan chicken is nothing special, but ... the sauce was definitely the highlight. The rice was too hard, almost stale. The upside is the price is alright if you're just getting the chicken. Read more
Really wanted to try good hainanese chicken and searching for authentic Malaysian food but this place was a bit disappointing. I know it opened many years ago and it's an original but the quality has gone down. The chicken had a regular option-don't go for that although the price is ... cheaper. Most places have boneless free range chicken, this was not comparible to other restaurants. Price is cheaper but the oily rice, soup, satay skewers were not the same as other places. I guess you get what you pay for. The restaurant is also very old but has ventilation. Read more
