If you're looking for seasonal seafood prepared in Chinese style, this is the place to be. The selection of fresh seafood is impressive, and you can choose from a variety of flavors, from steamed to fried with a spicy kick. However, it can get very crowded during peak seasons (we ... visited during spot shrimp season), and it's difficult to get a seat without a reservation. Overpriced and not worth the hype. 2 diners and we blew close to $170 (without tips yet) for 3 dishes that did not include any lobster, oysters or premium seafood. Grilled fish (compulsory minimum 3 sides that already cost $16): $85. Spot prawns: $48. Mussels: $24. No doubt the food ... tasted good albeit being too salty, but nothing spectacular that stood out. You can definitely get the same flavor and taste from the many Chinese seafood restaurants that dot Vancouver and Burnaby, at half the cost or less. The restaurant was filled with loud diners who tried to talk over one another. And worst of all, we felt rushed throughout even though we were told that we have 1.5hrs to finish our meal. I’m giving this place a perfect 5 out of 5 for outstanding service, quality of food, and value. The fresh seafood is reasonably priced— the king crab, cooked to your preference, matches supermarket prices but exceeds in flavor. We enjoyed an 8lb king crab prepared three ways (crab fried rice, ... oil drizzle and salty egg yolk satay, which was a delightful surprise). The Geoduck served two ways—oil drizzle and satay with veggies—was also impressive, varying from chewy to tender and light. Our family enjoyed a fabulous meal at The Fish Man. We were graciously welcomed to our reserved table and were pampered throughout the entire meal by our attentive servers. We enjoyed a variety of different seafood including lingcod prepared 2 ways, Dungeness crab, Lobster on a bed of sticky rice, ... geoduck clam prepared 2 ways and a variety of different vegetables including morels over braised tofu, etc. The service was absolutely outstanding considering the restaurant was at capacity. We really enjoyed the variety of different flavours and cooking techniques including traditional regional chinese, sashimi, raw, stir fried, braised... a true feast for all of our senses!
