Small cafe like restaurant it’s nice and has a cozy atmosphere. The wait time can be long at times and the employees were in a rush, however, I believe that’s because the time I go is when they get a rush of customers and the staff isn’t large so I ... can excuse the lack of hospitality. I’ve had the soup dumplings and pork dumplings which tasted great. I haven’t been there too often but food was good the times I have been. Absolutely amazing! Nice small restaurant around the corner. Drove from UBC to here for an authentic Shanghainese cuisine taste. It didn’t disappoint me. Sheng Jian was as good and authentic as the ones in Shanghai, the noodles were delicious, and the soup was smooth and tasty. Defo my future go-to ... for Shanghainese cuisine. Walked in to an empty restaurant today and was really impressed with the Shanghai buns and fried noodle dish. The famous Xiao long bao had plenty of soup in them which tells you they're authentic. They're best eaten with a spoon. Just nibble enough to let the hot soup out ... into the spoon then slurp it up. The meat inside was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and tasty. The panfried buns were just as juicy. Didn't expect that but I was pleasantly surprised. Also tried their Shanghai Fried Noodles with chicken. Delicious! And the price was great too. By the time we were done, more people came in and tables filled up. Felt bessed finding this place. It's a keeper for sure. Update: I eat here every other week but lately the lady at the till is beginning to annoy me. I usually order my food, eat it then leave a cash tip on the table. Every time I pay upfront, she notices there's no tip and she makes a big fuss over it. She is so rude asking for the tip! On my last trip, I gave her 10% only because she expected it. If she wasn't so rude, I would have tip more. On top of that, I've been there so many times and left a tip that she would give me some slack but no. I'm just another customer to her.
