Excellent Tofu & Snack - Richmond, British Columbia

You know this is a solid spot if my fam had to visit twice in our 4-day Vancouver trip. Their tofu pudding is possibly the smoothest we have ever tried in North America. Every bowl is stacked with layers of light and silky soy tofu pudding, drizzled with toppings of your ... choice. I love getting a plain tofu pudding (白糖豆腐花) and add a scoop of yellow sugar on top. Black sesame paste (黑芝麻豆腐花) also adds a nice nutty flavor to the soy pudding. On top of their signature soy pudding and soy milk, they serve multiple nostalgic savory street snacks like pan fried tofu (尖釀豆腐), sticky rice rolls (粢飯), vegetarian gluten (三色齋) and curry fishball (咖喱魚蛋). Great little space to grab a soy pudding snack as dessert after eating a meal at the nearby establishments. There are both hot and cold flavours and a variety of toppings. I got the cold soy pudding with grass jelly and the pudding was very smooth and a tiny bit ... sweet while the grass jelly added a slight bitter texture. I had to add the simple sugar to my dish in order to make it a bit sweeter. My friend got the hot soy pudding with tapioca and it was very nice and sweet on its own without additions due to the tapioca pearls. There are table seating and counter seating. Prices were standard $6.50 for one topping and $8.00 for two. The bowls are standard rice bowls. Order and pay after you finish eating or grab a take out container with soy pudding. One of a kind, homemade tofu shop! Anything you get here will be delicious. I always make sure to stop by and grab a snack and jug to go every time I’m in the neighbourhood. They offer their classic tofu dessert with house made ginger syrup and soy milk. Awesome ... service and you can watch the soy milk being made fresh while you eat! December 27, 2033 Food: We ordered the Tofu pudding with fruits, and Tofu pudding with purple rice. The tofu pudding was really fresh. You can add the syrup on the side to adjust the sweetness. Service: The staff (young teenage girl) was very friendly when she talked to ... us. The service was a little slow because it was a little bit understaffed. Atmosphere: the tables were clean. Tofu pudding is definitely good here and they have a ton of dairy-free options (coconut milk, taro, red bean, etc). The tofu pudding itself is served flavorless. The sweetners are actually on your table and you decide how sweet you want it to be; there's a transparent sweetner and a darker ... colored sweetner (which tasted kinda like caramel but not really). Heads up this place is definitely a hole in the wall in terms of looks. If you order any of the warm dishes or want your pudding warm, it's all warmed up in a microwave and I'm not sure if they heat up everything in plastic containers. Read more
