Paid $16 for a very small portion of Katsu don. Meat is mediocre, very average that's not worth this price, only 4 little pieces of meat, should have checked the reviews before ordering but was in a rush.

My go-to place in Aberdeen food court! Consistently good katsu (soft inside and crispy outside) and a set comes with soup, shredded cabbage, and pickles. The portion size is perfect for me. I always order same things…. Tenderloin set, tenderloin curry, and katsu sando. Don’t go for a loin katsu unless ... you are looking for that cut particularly as it may be a bit tougher. Also don’t go for katsudon unless you like your katsu cooked in soup and egg. The katsu sando is my very favorite but it sells out quickly so you need to be there at early lunch hours to get it. The tonkatsu sold at Savoten in the food court surpasses the flavor of those from specialty restaurants. Although the portion size may not be large, the overall value is solid, complemented by quality accompaniments like miso soup, Japanese-style pickled cucumbers, and a lettuce salad. Located in the Aberdeen food court, the pictures on the menu looked really appetizing. Ordered #2 pork loin cutlet, such came with plenty of rice and shredded cabbage. Pretty filling for $16 CAD. The pork was thick but not as crispy as pictured. Still decent for a meal. Will check out ... the curry one next time. Read more

The price isn’t too high at $14.50 so I decided to try their loin katsu Don with an egg. Come with miso soup and pickles. Lots of rice it’s gonna fill you good. Bread crumbs flaky. Found the katsu a little below expectation. Big chucks of fat and tough pieces I ... can’t swallow here and there. For don bowls, they do pour onion sauce on the rice before they place the katsu pork on top of it so the crispy batter of the pork got soaked up. I may need to ask the server to be easy with the sauce next time or skip it altogether because it’s too salty. Kind of ruin the whole katsu experience IMO. I like the miso soup as it tastes like the one you would get in a real Japanese restaurant. Read more
