The service astronomy may not be the best, but the food never disappoint. The pineapple bun is something that I always order, you can choose from different types of noodles and things to come with it. Very traditional and classic Taiwanese style.
Li-NO… I think a lot of my friends and I grew up frequenting this place and Kam Do during our youngling years due to its generous portions and reasonable prices. The last time I been here was probably 15 years ago? Well, here I am back again due to some memory lane ... talk among friends. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Pineapple buns with butter. I honestly don’t know what happened but it came more as smashed pancake bun with butter that doesn’t melt. Everyone else’s pineapple bun came plump and fluffy and here was mine… seemed like some psycho ex-gf having revenge on mine. Failed! (Facepalm) 2. Egg tart. The shell was crunchy rather than flaky and buttery. For $3.50 each, it’s a failed! 3. Dried oyster and pork congee. Nice amount of ingredients and the congee was done homemade style. Decently good. 4. Wonton noodle soup. The wontons were okay, the noodle was basic, and the soup was too generic could use a bit of old fashion wonton flavour to it. 5. Combo A (macaroni and ham in soup with butter bun; sausage and scrambled eggs). The sausage and scrambled eggs were deflated of life, never got the butter bun, and the subpar macaroni and ham in soup were forgotten until I asked for it (about 30mins later between the macaroni soup and eggs). Failed! This place is pretty old school in terms of its interior layout and furnishings, has that very 80s-90s casual Hong Kong cafe atmosphere. It wasn’t jam packed but did had a constant flow of customers while I was there, especially orders of the pineapple bun. (Roll eyes, honestly good pineapple buns are everywhere nowadays) As busy as this place was, the service was okay because all the staffs were active and attending to the customers (just a bit forgetful that’s all). What can I say about the food? The food I got was ridiculous below subpar for the price. After almost flattening and squashing the life out of the pineapple buns (almost $5 each), how can one still serve it to their customers? And the egg tart ($3.50 each), now I know why nobody order one besides silly me lol. Then there’s the combo A (macaroni and ham soup), it’s literally a joke, I can’t even force myself to eat a few mouthful of it. The only saving grace was the congee which was decent. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience. Now I know why I haven’t revisited this place in the last 15years. Nevertheless, my next visit here will be another 15 years from now if they are still around, but in the meantime I don’t recommend it, definitely a Li-NO for me! Read more
I am just here for giving feedback of this particular bun, other than this, food are good there. I would never expect a so called famous 菠蘿油looked like this… The Server explained politely the chef needed to hold the bun and cut it half for putting the sliced butter in.
Negative stars if possible. Truly disgraceful service and the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I came with my parents, and the servers were incredibly rude to us. They were rushing us and did the bare minimum (take our orders and drop the food off). However, they put the food ... in front of the wrong people so two of us ended up accidentally switching orders unknowingly (two different noodle dishes). The waitress then BULLIED my mother into giving a 30% tip. My mother initially gave a 15% tip (which is already MUCH MORE than what the service warranted) but then the waitress rudely belittled my family and told us to give more. My mother was almost in tears so we unfortunately caved in. Disgusting behaviour from Lido. Do NOT support such underhanded business practices and take your money elsewhere. As for the hyped butter bolo bun? It tasted cheap and not worth the price tag. You’re better off getting the $2 T&T one instead. Read more
CAH ONLY! Great pineapple buns. Haven’t tried anything else. Not great enough that I’d come all the way out to get just these, but if you’re in the area then definitely stop by.
