The Railside Restaurant - Port Hope, Ontario

First of all I’d like to say the waitress was a hard working person. The steak I ordered was way over cooked and tough as leather. The vegetables were almost raw. When I mentioned how awful the meal was I was not offered any compensation and handed a bill for the ... full amount I took the remainder of the meal home and fed it to my dog. I used to eat here all the time but I have to say the overall quality of the food has gone way down hill. I don’t know if they are just buying cheaper cuts of meat or the chef just can’t cook or doesn’t care about their job. I only went this time because of a work event. I will hopefully never have to experience this terrible restaurant again. There was a lot of money spent. I feel they should have offered the meal for free. Seen as I did not eat. I can't thank the team enough for accommodating our group meet. Unfortunately we didn't get as many in as we wanted as a few riders dropped out before we entered the establishment. Their loss ! Friendly helpful staff, well cooked and tasty food. We were in for lunch and they split a main onto two plates for us. The kids meals were amazing and affordably priced

The Deep Fried Pickles were delicious! They were brought out right away so they were nice and hot. They had great flavour and excellent crunch - not one bit of sogginess. I highly recommend these. My husband had The Bacon Cheddar Burger and said it was delicious. As someone who pretty ... much orders a burger at ever restaurant we go to, he said this one was top three. The actual burger patty was very well seasoned, and the fries were really yummy. I can attest to that =) I had The Reuben and it was exactly as expected (I LOVE Reuben sandwiches). The pastrami was very good and the cheeeeese was perfectly melted. I'm not sure what our servers name was but she was excellent, very friendly and attentive. (We were there April 28th at 11am.)
