Third time to come this restaurant for lunch. Nobody write down your name or give a number to get a table. That’s not good. Always need to walk to cashier area to ask for table. High priced. Carbs cost same as protein. Salt pepper garlic chili fried shrimp were not deveined (stomach). Did not look appetizing with black Vein running through every shrimp.
We made it just before the lunch rush at noon and only waited about ten minutes for a table of 3. The hostess asked me if I would like Jasmine tea, I said no and asked for Chrysanthemum tea. She didn’t understand me and brought me jasmine anyway but it ... wasn’t a big deal. We marked off the dim sum we wanted on the paper and the dishes came out relatively quickly considering how busy it was, one at a time. The food was steaming hot and delicious. We had the egg tarts, fried tofu, shrimp rice rolls, beef balls, pan fried prawn and chive dumplings, chicken feet and beef brisket rice rolls in a clay pot. Everything was absolutely delicious, the shrimp rice roll was loaded with prawns! The servers aren’t the friendliest and don’t hide that they’re annoyed when you ask for other things such as hot sauce or a drink. I understand that they’re busy though and I’m there for the food so it’s not a big deal. The hostess also missed one item that I checked off on our order but we were full anyway. I was impressed by the quality and portion sizes . Compared to a couple of other local less expensive restaurants in Poco/Coq this place has better quality food. We came on a Sunday close to 5:30pm and it wasn't too busy. Service was prompt. Would return again.
---edit June 2024--- I tried different dim sum dishes. Deep fried squid tentacles - really good. Portion is a bit small Beef Rice rolls - good texture. Shrimp paste on eggplant - came out piping hot Shrimp patty with chives - this one came out cold... it was good but it probably sat there for a ... while Deep fried glutinous rice balls with meat filling - the outside mochi was good but the filling was lacking in flavor and in portion Beef brisket on chan chuen fan - love the noodles. Can't get this type of noodle in many places. Beef brisket was tough and not much flavor. Would try the pork riblets next time. ------------- In terms of flavor, this has got to be one of the wosrt ones I have been to. Century egg and pork congee - flavorless. No salt. No base whatsoever. Hand shredded chicken salad - extremely small. Most places that give smaller portions have expensive jellyfish in the salad. This place is only chicken and preserved vegetables so there is no need for it to be half the size of the plate, smaller than other specialty chef items. Deep fried chicken knees - giant pieces only to find out it is 80% batter. The garlic salt and spice just sat at the bottom and the chicken was never stirred with it. Minced pork fried glutinous rice dumpling - the glutinous rice wasnt very sweetened. The insides were ok. The only good thing is that it came with 4 pieces instead of 3.
