We were sat right by the solarium style area with lots of windows and light shining through.....so good start. What's good about chain restaurants is you can expect a set standard. What that standard is of course depends on the chain. Before heading to DeDutch, we walked into a local family-owned ... breakfast place, and walked right back out. Why? Well......standards....let's leave it there. The Canuck French Toast - Decent. It came with back bacon instead of strip. I don't like back bacon. Back bacon is like the ugly unpopular cousin of strip bacon. However, this was actually prepared quite well. Crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle, not overloaded with sodium, and the grease padded away. DeBakon Avocado Benny - The actual benny was nice. The potatoes could've been much better as they resembled more cafeteria style hashbrowns. I think what we can take away from this experience is that the food was reasonably good, but not $23 per plate good. For $23, I expect more culinary skill. I mean it's eggs and toast. The service - Unprofessional. Not that she was bad. No, actually she was very friendly. Unprofessional as in ....she was not professionally trained. forgetting details of the order we asked for. I'm guessing they told her....well....bring them coffee, take the order, bring them their food and give them the bill. That she did and she was very friendly. I don't tip unless it's earned. With her, I could see she was trying. It was obvious, and she was going it with a smile. That was enough for me. Read more
