If you're looking for Chinese food in the West Island in one of the best places I have found is Maison Kam! Not only is the service the most friendly and accommodating you have ever experienced but they go above and beyond to make their guests feel special. The decor ... is "family owned and operated authentic Asian atmosphere" which is fabulously delightful when dinning in. Now the food, some of the very best I have honestly ever had. The price is a little high but very well worth it as the portions are HUGE! We had dinner #8 for two with some added egg rolls. The peanut butter dumplings were out of this world (they did not even make it home). The General Tao was the perfect blend of sweetness to tart with the chicken being juicy and tender. I have to say ordering from here was long overdue. From experience, I would never recommend ordering out from any chinese dining restaurant so close to closing time as the quality is usually sub-par at that time. That being said, this was made 1hr before at 10pm and WOW. Simply ... *DELICIOUS* and I'd imagine as good as ordering any other time during the day! The pictures speak for themselves and the amount for the price is more than reasonable. An extra 10% off for takeout paid by CASH ONLY is nothing to complain about either. Very generous portions, hot and tasty. Staff is very friendly and service is quick (of course it depends on what you order). Typical asian decord, nothing over the top. I use to love the food here but since the change in ownership and chef (a few weeks ago), the food was very disappointing. It is currently family run. I hate to give it a poor rating and hope that they will be able to get their act together. ... The food badly needs improvement and the loud talking from the kitchen can be heard in the dining room (I was seated next to the front windows and understand Cantonese, so the "talking" was the female owner scolding the cook to speed things up). The hot/sour soup was overly salty and had no notes of the hot/sour. The egg roll was overcooked but what needs improvement is the filling texture and it lacked seasoning. The fried noodle also lacked taste, but the pool of oil on my plate was made the dish very unpalatable. They have a hand written sign posted on the entrance door informing patrons that only cash/debit was accepted.
