Quick to take your money but extremely slow to service. Placed order at 5pm promised ready time of 6:30…arrived at 7pm order still was not ready, lady assisting me initially was completely confused , dismissed me and offered no apology, Manager thankfully stepped in was given my order at 7:30. I ... will always support this restaurant, I just hope staff can be trained on basic customer service…empathy , acknowledgment and simple apology goes a long way. Manager took care of it in the end . **Take out only review Island Mix has been our go to for years. Not sure if something has changed in the kitchen but the quality has been trending downwards. The food has become very oily and their special chicken fried rice is now plain hard greasy rice without any veggies..Unless you ... count the green onions and 2 pieces of carrots veggies. Apparently you have to pay extra for bora now? Hoping things get back to the way they were... Read more

Good vibes, too bad the food wasn't. Very oily! Had the chicken wings, pepper shrimp, calamari, fried rice and mixed lo mean. The rice was hard, the shrimp was very fishy, the wings didn't taste jerked. Our server Ashley was great.

Was in the mood for Trinidad Chinese food ...wasted my time and money going to Island Mix in Pickering. Got vegetable fried rice, veggie chow mein and crispy fried chicken. I'm still looking for the veggies and found only cabbage in both dishes and it was oily... The chicken was ... ok but salty!!! got to find another place. Read more

Update: As always the food and ambience of this place is always on point. This time, the service was perfect, and the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu, Mohammed suggested the Apple Sour Martini, which was a nice twist on a classic, and I really enjoyed it. He was ... an amazing server! Despite it being a long weekend, we were accommodated with proper seating this time around, and we had no waiting issues or rude staff. ------- The food and atmosphere here is always a vibe and never misses, however we had made reservations but the staff did not honor it even though it was made 2 weeks in advance, we had to wait to have a table prepared, don't bother reserving just come in and try your luck. We also tried to order take-out the following day only to have the entire dinner order cancelled seconds after it was made. First time ever had an issue here, ultra bizzare. Read more
