Berc’s Steakhouse - Peterborough, Ontario

Was very excited to have dinner here as I hadn’t been to this restaurant for about a decade. They rave that they have won best steakhouse for 14 straight years. I am assuming this must be for Peterborough and seeing as there are only 4 or 5 take it with a ... grain of salt. The filet was very bland, lacking in taste and seasoning, average at best. Found it very odd that you received no bread with your meal which is a first for me in a steakhouse. They offered soup, but who wants soup on a hot summer day? We recently celebrated a family birthday dinner and had a fantastic evening. The staff were friendly and our server, Karen, was fantastic; she was helpful and answered our questions regarding the menu. Karen was attentive, yet not intrusive. Service was leisurely and we did not feel rushed. The ambiance ... was comforting; while busy, the dining room was not noisy and we were able to carry a conversation without having to speak loudly. The menu is well diversified and provides a wide selection of entrees. Our group enjoyed a wide variety of food options; pasta, seafood, steak and lamb, which were all thoroughly enjoyed. The food was well prepared, well presented, and cooked exactly as requested. The wine list provides a good selection of quality wines. My wife and I had our 10 year wedding anniversary here and it was great. We brought our kids to celebrate with us (6yo and under 1) and staff were very accommodating and super sweet with our kids.
