I really loved the Mac & Cheese here. My brother absolutely loves the curry chicken. My mom wasn't a fan of the lasagna because of the mushrooms in it but she is a huge judge of lasagna, she tries it everywhere that serves it. My sister wasn't a huge fan ... of the drizzle on the salmon. It was supposed to be balsamic vinegar but she was convinced it was something else. But she is very picky! Considering the reviews of this place were generally very good, I was rather disappointed with our experience. This place appealed to me because of its look. It is so cute outside and inside but unfortunately, that was all this place had to offer. I got the chicken fingers and fries ... and my partner got the fish and chips. The fries were alright but the chicken strips had an odd (almost rancid) taste. As for my partner, his fish did not taste fresh at all, was mushy and there was a hair in one of the pieces. I work in the food industry and understand that hairs happen, but in this case, it just contributed to our overall bad experience. We didn't feel the need to bring it up to our server because she was not overly friendly and did not even stay at the table while we were completing our transactions. Honestly...despite the cute old characteristic, charming and historical appeal of the place the food was probably worse then home cooking. Shockingly disappointed :( Ordered the classic club which was recommended by a friend. 3 pieces of stale, boring, dry whole wheat toast, dry turkey breast, and bacon with tomato and mayo. ... Not even salt and pepper made it more flavorful. I was so hungry that I ate it but honestly, I have nice Kaiser buns fresh from the bakery at home with maple bacon, fresh tomatoes from the Farmers market and beautiful lettuce and smoked turkey...could have made it better at home. Even a nice aioli would have ramped up this dry, bland cracker sandwich. The Caesar salad was clearly made from a bottled dressing from the store. My mom ordered a lemonade to start which was way too sweet, had to mix it with water. She claimed it was fresh made...maybe fresh sugar dumped in it? She ordered the daily special quiche which was okay. Fries and salad on the side. Again...just bland and boring. I am so disappointed as I was dying to try this cute looking place that women I worked with said to try. But am so disappointed. Would never eat there again. I would come for a drink in the evening on the patio which is so romantic and cacooned in.. hopefully they can't screw up a pint of beer? The waitress was a nice lady. Very friendly and quick. I had the chicken curry and it was delicious. Tasted like sweet and sour chicken but still delicious. The price was amazing for the serving size as well. My dates salmon was a little over cooked but she's hard to please lol...so five stars!

Watching the food around me arrive, I was impressed. My fish and chips (I chose the half salad half fries) was very good...maybe a bit too much batter for my liking though. Portions seem generous all around from what I saw, with the exception of 2 who sat ... at my table and paid a fairly high price for their stir fry which didn't come with much meat even though they paid extra and very very skimpy on the rice. Service was very friendly and attentive though, and I love the cozy atmosphere. I will likely come back to sit on the patio which looked nice. Read more
