We happened to come by this winery after we couldn't get into the laughing stock winery (gate was closed). They were nice enough to let us try a couple wines even though their wine tastings had ended. We ended up buying a bottle to take home. They had a last ... minute cancellation for dinner and we were able to take the spot. The Thanksgiving Day menu was incredible and me and my husband say it might have been the best meal we've ever had! The sweet potato gnocchi with sage cream sauce was soo good. The turkey leg has an amazing herb crust that was so flavorful. All the sides had all the comforts of a typical Thanksgiving Day dinner but with a special twist of creativity that was unique. The deconstructed pumpkin pie was amazing. We now are fans of Evan Robertson and will go wherever he goes. Lol The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the gravy. It was a bit too strong that I felt it overpowered all the other flavors so I didn't use the gravy. But everything had so much flavour on its own I didn't need the gravy. Read more
Oh, how I WISH I could leave a glowing review. The property was stunning. But our trip to Hillside for a romantic dinner was just a sweaty mess. It was unbearably hot—only one fan seemed to be running, there was a glass-type terrace ceiling trapping in the heat, and there ... were screens on the side openings that were meant to block direct sun but also prevented airflow. One man actually brought a portable fan for his table (smart guy). Service was friendly but slow. Bread with olive oil and vinegar was $16 and enough to constitute an entire course. There was just SO MUCH bread. We joked about using the focaccia to mop the perspiration from our heads. By the time the mains arrived, we were feeling almost ill from the heat. The food was good but not exceptional. And we got no explanations about the wine pairings, which was a true disappointment for a wine estate. If you go, plan to arrive at sunset when they raise the screens and things have cooled off a bit. It really is a lovely place. The view can’t be beat. Maybe if all the fans were working and we arrived later, our experience would have matched the other positive reviews on Google. Read more
So glad we made it back to this wonderful restaurant again after a long break from the covid. This is a must visit if you are in the area. Great location, lots of parkings, beautiful scenery, friendly service, and most importantly, super delicious food. 3 frds and I shared the 55oz ... tomahawk steak along with 2 other appetizers and some wines. The steak is absolutely spot on, very well seasoned and cooked to our preference. Their foods are designed to be shared with friends and family. Make sure you come hungry. What a great experience, I wish I didn’t have to leave the town so I can go back the next day. Will revisit very soon. Thank you very much!!! Read more
Fantastic!! Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food is. The flavour of every dish is on point and we also did the wine pairing, it definitely enhances the flavour of the food, highly recommend :)
We went here for our nice night out while in town. It was a girls night and was super nice with excellent food and wine. We tried the wine samplers. I tried three of the whites and enjoyed all. We also shared quite a few appies...elk tartare, bone marrow popcorn, warm ... olives, burrata, duck confit tacos, and focaccia with blue butter and garlic. All were excellent. Loved the elk and the popcorn. They were my fave but everything was tasty. I shared the scallops and fingerlings potatoes and the beet gnocchi so I was able to try both. Tasty and well prepared. The desserts were great. We ordered the upside down cake with huckleberry, lavender creme brulee, pavlova and the honey mille feuille. All were great! I think I liked the pavlova best but all were tasty! Beautiful scenery. Lovely dining room and patio. Read more
