Ching’s Kitchen - Ottawa, Ontario

We had the katsu set and the fried potato cake. The katsu was not fresh unfortunately , meat was not tender at all and the bread crumb coating was definitely not panko :( the potato cakes were good , albeit at $6 for 2 , a bit pricey. The mango ... bubble tea was good , with tapioca pearls and was not too sweet - but the size was rather small for $6 if you compare with what you get at coco or chatime. Service was good. We went on a Saturday around 1/2pm and the place was empty ... too bad :( our quest for the best katsu in Ottawa continues ... we wanted to try C’est Japon à Shuisha but were not in the neighbourhood so we gave this one a try. Very good food and service, the owner is a very nice person. She always refill water when she saw you have drank it up. In some places you will have to call people to refill water (and there is a chance that you won't get it...) It's really the touching ... details like this make Ching's Kitchen the best Asian food restaurant in Ottawa. I would give 10/10 for food but 100/100 for the service. They are still maintaining the best service restaurant avaialble in Ottawa. And yes, I would recommend this place to everyone eating in Ottawa. Read more

The steak on rice was great but the sauce was kind of too sweet so do not put all of them into it. The waitress’ attitude can be better. Overall, it is a nice restaurant, the Taiwanese fried chicken is delicious. I will come visit next time.

I wasn't particularly thrilled with the grilled eel dish. For the price you're paying for, you can simply go to T&T to get a full sized eel and half a bag of dumplings and cook it yourself at home. Credit where it's due the restaurant looks pretty and the staff are ... nice. If I had to come back again, I'd probably try something off of their Taiwanese menu. Their menu has a broad range of flavours from different countries to choose from, so I've got reason to believe there's no specialty food Ching's is specifically known for. Read more

Nice options of Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese dishes. Reasonable prices. Was there early on a Friday night. Service was friendly and efficient. Nice interior. Floors needed a sweep, dropped food perhaps from a busy lunch service. Had the Katsu Ramen with fall off the bone ribs. Noodles ... were not quite the same as other ramen places but the flavour of the soup was good. Second try. Good flavours but down graded rating because of dirty utensils. Read more
