Sushi Kan 3 - Ottawa, Ontario

After working in a restaurant, I developed an aversion to ‘all you can eat buffets’. They just make me nervous. That said, I’m a fan of sushi. Stopped here for lunch and the experience was passable. The buffet is pretty standard but I’d suggest you get there before 12:30. It appears ... that they start to ‘shut it down’ around that time, so the refresh of the options slows down. Loved it! Not my first time there, but I introduced a colleague to the heaven that is Sushi Kan. The place is clean, service is top notch, food is plentiful, fresh and delicious. The price is unbelievable for the buffet and sushi!! Won't be my last time, that's for sure.

Decent dining experience. Low wait time, sometimes they'll forget your order and you'll have to place it again. You can get food from the Chinese buffet portion while waiting for the sushi to be made and brought to you.

Decent sushi buffet. Food arrived promptly and was hot. Tasted fine, nothing amazing but not bad. The deep fried rolls were a little heavy on rice but the rest of the food was alright. Beef gyoza was good. Service was a lot better than the last time I was here 2 years ... ago. Servers quickly brought extra condiments and cleared away plates. WARNING: Lunch buffet (1:30pm - 3pm) advertised as $15.99. Last call is at 2:30pm. Be warned though, a 14% tip is already added to the overall amount due but prompts you for it again. We were rushed a bit near the end and I didn't notice I tipped twice until after I left the building. Sushi rolls tasted fresh, and looked clean. The wait time is around 10 minutes. The food was hot and tasted fine. The service was a bit off... waitress seemed rude and not welcoming. She gave us a blank look a couple of times. The lunch buffet started after 1:30p. They expect you to ... order from 1:30-2:30 (last call is 2:30). The atmosphere was a bit dead with a few customers. If you want mediocre quality buffet food, this is the place to be. Did I mention there's karaoke on the 2nd floor... ALSO THEY CHARGE FOR TIP IT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR BILL!
