Located in a strip mall at a more residential area, there is ample parking and easy access to the restaurant. The interior is small but cozy, clean and very well decorated. From the seating area, you can see through some glass windows to where they make the fresh bao. For appetizers, ... our family of 2 adults and 3 kids ordered the Beef Shank & Ox Tripe and Special Chicken Salad. These were flavourful cold dishes and, while they were listed as spicy, I found them on the milder side. For our main meal, we all shared the Steamed Chinese Chives & Pork Bao, Pan Fried Sauerkraut & Pork Bao, and Chicken Sesame Paste Noodle. Each bao dish came with 8 buns and the noodles were a very generous portion. The pan fried bao gets the edge in flavour but the steamed bao is still very good with the soft dough - perfect for the kids. The noodles came coated in a sesame sauce making it have a peanuty flavour. While very good on it's own, I found adding some dark vinegar and chili oil (condiments on the table) added a new delicious dimension to the dish. With the addition of two soft drinks, our bill was around $70. Definitely not cheap eats but we did order quite a few dishes and still had some bao to take home. Poor customer service, poor management. Food quality is low. All their noodle charged at 12+ taste like instant noodle that you can buy anywhere!! Homemade buns has mostly bread and little meatstuffing inside. Menu changes without any notices. I ordered their chongqing noodle. It used to come with abit of soup. Today ... when I ordered the same noodle, it’s just noodle with little veggies, a lot of garlic. And they told me the menu changed and brushed me off. That’s Terrible! It was the first time for a Northern Chinese restaurant in Ottawa. Overall food tastes good. Pork hock and the sauce was good. Beijing noodle was great. Noodle seemed handmade and had chewy texture! I added all sauce at once and found little salty. You may add some first and ... adjust while eating. Bao was also good. Each bao is not small, but it is at most half full. Savoury meat inside balanced out with the size of wrap outside. Expected bao with more stuff in it, though. The place is clean, and the staff is kind and friendly. Good food. Recommend all of the steamed and fried bao. Very authentic Beijing and Chongqing Noodle Soups, but we arrived at 6:30 PM last Saturday and they already ran out of some dishes by 7:00 PM. Prices are reasonable so I would go early and load up ... on the bao. Those are handmade in the glass kitchen and are really fresh. They are the highlight of the menu, in my opinion. Read more

It was...ok. Definitely not the Somerset Ave kind of Chinese food. I would have called it dimsum like. It is on the expensive side as well. Unless you're looking for what is supposed to be authentic northern Chinese, I'd stick to the tried and true ... schezuan and Cantonese style restaurants. Nice tables and dishes though. Oh yeah.
