Cedar Valley - Ottawa, Ontario

Ordered a Beef Shawarma Sandwich + spicy potatoes. Where do I start! The shawarma has a weird smell to it, and was the most tasteless one I've ever had. Terrible! The garlic sauce leaves an unpleasant taste in your mouth for hours! My dogs enjoyed ... this meal. (sorry) The potatoes - I cant even describe. I got a package of what looked like unwashed potatoes, dripping in a sauce that was just terrible. The potatoes definitely did not look like the picture thats posted on the menu. Very nice owner but not my favorite shawarma flavor wise.. it's VERY fresh though. The salad was the best part. The garlic sauce was more mayo/eggy like, the hummus sort of bland. Also it takes very long to get your order but it's made fresh and with care.. Just ... heads up..either call ahead or be prepared to wait. Read more

We had a great experience! Delicious and fresh food and the owner was friendly and accommodating- not to mention he's been in business there for 25 years. So nice to see family-owned restaurants serving Orleans. We need more places like this!

I have to be honest - and as someone who's lived in Ottawa all my life and have lived on several shawarma, this could be one of the most tasteless sandwiches I've had. I had the chicken shawarma which goes for about 8.75 + tax. Chicken was very dry, even though ... 'strong garlic sauce' was added, and not sure if it was the chicken or something but it was very salty, the taste is stuck in mouth and it's not pleasant. Not sure why there's several positive reviews - which is the reason I stopped by, whereas could have stopped by Shawarma Palace but wanted to help out a local business - but maybe benefit of the doubt and assume something was bad today. But there's also who had similar experience. Do I recommend this place, no. Would I try it again to see if they have maybe improved, possibly. Cedar Valley is an exceptional restaurant offering great Lebanese and Middle eastern cuisine. Shawarma is one of many tasty dishes that they offer so don’t be afraid to try something new.
