Prince Gourmet - Ottawa, Ontario

Honestly the problem was not the food. I ordered a chicken shawarma platter, when i got to the cash i asked if they took American Express. The older gentleman working said yes but he would rather not because it costs him more. So i taped My AMEX card on ... the machine and it said approved so i handed it back to the girl who replaced the older gentleman who had to serve other customers. She handed the machine back to me and told me i was not finished. I looked and all the machine was asking me was if i wanted a receipt or not so i said "no". They also did not get a receipt by me doing this so they insisted i pay again in order for them to get a receipt. No way because as i said m transaction had already been approved. The girl said no problem and she would figure it out. 2 min later while sitting and eating, the old gentleman walks over and asks me to go back to the cash and pay again. i tell him no because its been approved already. He then asks me to open my banking app and prove it. Anyways i did but am very insulted that he did not trust me and accused me of not paying for my food. I have visited this restaurant 4 times within the last month and a half. The food is good – the garlic is delicious, and hot sauce to go with it amazing. The meats are juicy and tender. However two critiques on this place: the customer service and the pricing. Customer service ... with the younger staff – twice were fantastic. They were cheerful and had a pleasant attitude. The other two visits- I was greeted with an older gentleman. On both cases, I wasn’t greeted pleasantly. The first visit- I brushed it off as he was tired, as I visited the place at the end of the lunch service. However, the second visit resulted in the same cold ‘what do you want’ attitude. Not thrilled on it. In addition, the prices that they advertise are not what the charges are. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. The prices have gone up due to the food – I understand this. However, by advertising a lower price as you enter on flyers, is deceiving. I will be back – the food will not keep me away. However, I will not be back as often if I encounter the unpleasant older gentleman and/or changing prices. Read more

Worst. Shawarma. Experience. Ever. And I'm Arab. This place should consider closing down. Shawarma sandwiches were dry as sand even though I requested sauce in it, they gave me none in my shawarma order, toooo stingy with the sauces, old stale potatoes, watered down garlic sauce, and the soggiest salad ... I've ever encumbered. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, let alone any shawarma place with the name "Prince" in it. Dissatisfied customer out. Read more

Overall this place was 'ok' - but pretty overpriced given the quality and quantity. Potatoes were dry (kind of old) and the salad was soggy. Garlic was pretty good though. I don't think I'd go back.

I won a free shawarma from country 94 from prince. I showed up and they hadnt heard of the contest. they tried to call their manager who didnt answer. surprisingly they still gave me the shawarma. it was my first time trying prince and I was blown away: A) by the food B) ... and most importantly their customer service was amazing, new customer acquired!
