Café Postino - Ottawa, Ontario

Dined many times and will continue to come back. The food and drinks are delicious. Ron provided the best service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. A real asset to the business. The lemon tartufo is to die for, a must try.

Housed in an old repurposed post office building in the main street of Almonte, this little cafe delivered great food! We took the staff’s recommendation of the day and had changed our order to include the tomato & red pepper soup, and the seafood salad in addition to the grilled vegetables ... salad, fried calamari and the Postino pizza. And we weren’t disappointed! The soup had a wonderful balance of tomato-ness and capsicum sweetness - delicious! The seafood salad had calamari, oysters and salad greens - all lightly flavored just right. The grilled vegetables were nice too, though a bit more slashes of balsamic might make it stand out more. The old Post Office building is a fabulous setting and walking into the restaurant was exciting. The decor is great and the restaurant layout is very promising: Decadent deserts are presented in an old showcase on entry and the bar and cooks are straight ahead in a room with vaulted ... ceiling and interesting artwork. The highly rated reviews had me looking forward to a great meal, though I ended up a bit disappointed with just a good meal. The Veal Postino was not as flavourful as I had hoped with a very bland spaghetti and no salt in sight! It could be that this dish was just off... so try something else. My partner had a lovely gluten-free Pizza Postino as pictured and it was as good as it gets. Gluten-free pasta is also available - great gluten-free options. Read more

I believe this may be my second review of this restaurant, situated in an elegant old postal office building in the heart of downtown Almonte. The food served here is always fresh and delicious. And the service is great here too. Recently I have heard that the original owner of ... the restaurant has sold it, however they have been working together for some time prior to the change in ownership, which I hope means that the same quality of food and service will continue. I guess that may require a 3rd review sometime in the future. They do take reservations. Read more

Very good! Service was great, very friendly and inviting. The atmosphere was nice, it smells so good when you walk in, it's a great place for a nice dinner. The food was wonderful, well seasoned, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I tried the lobster ravioli, which was really good. I'd recommend this restaurant ... if you are looking for a nice Italian meal. It's more than worth a visit if you are in the area. The construction should be done this summer (2023) which will make getting there a tad smoother. Read more
