Biryani Tikka House - Ottawa, Ontario

Was visiting from Philly at the Courtyard. Went here on the strength of the recommendations. It was fantastic. Had Samosas to start, they were the size of my fist, and had some really interesting spices. Absolutely amazing hidden gem! My family and I were on a trip to ottawa for victoria day (we also own a restaurant), and we decided to stop here. The first thing to say is: PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR SMALL INTERIOR! the food speaks for itself. ... This is the type of place I love. It is family run, and you can tell that they put their souls into their cooking. The son served us and was very kind. He was attentive and very innocent. Now to the food; only one word can describe it... delectable! I would highly recomend their lamb roghan josh, the chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. Everything was not only delicious, but had their own unique flavours. The naan bread was some of the best I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The raita cooled the curries very nicely. I came out so full and everything was very reasonably priced. I'm pretty fussy about my Pakistani food, many restaurants in Ottawa disappoint but the Biryani Tikka House on Queen Mary is awesome. We had the chicken tikka masala, karhai lamb, beef kebabs, and nan - all were excellant. We'll be back soon.

We went to this place after going through the reviews and wasn't disappointed. I belong to Hyderabad, India which is known for its Biryani. We tried Ginger&Garlic Chicken Kabab, Chicken Biryani and Kulfi. All of them tasted excellent. He made dum style biryani which I couldn't find else where in this ... city. Though biryani didn't match up to hyderabadi style, it is far better than to what we had in the name of Biryani in other restaurants in Ottawa. Must have here is Kulfi which is homemade and the best I had in Canada so far. Five stars if I would have got raita or some salan (gravy curry) with biryani. I have visited this place occasionally and found the food quality excellent. Everything was freshly cooked and served. People are nice and friendly. One of the best food item is Lamb Dum Biryani which is found only at this place in Ottawa. Lamb chomps are also mouth watering. The owner ... really cares about Halal meat serving. Although its a small place but serves very good food. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit and try their delicious food. Read more
