My experience at this place was very dissapointing to say the least. There is a sign outside that advertises a student discount- turns out that is only for students who go to the nearby 3 highschools and not other school or university students. Regardless, I got a sandwich combo after ... what felt like I was arguing with the person behind the counter. The older gentlemen was describing the concept of a combo when I all I asked him was what the price of a wrap only was. His attitude made it seem like he was in a rush to take my order, despite no one else being there, and if I hadn't mentioned last minute that I wanted a small, he would have charged me for a large. Now I indeed asked for a beef gyro wrap, and when I left the store and took a few bites I saw chicken and went back. I asked the same gentleman is this chicken? I wanted beef, and the man was about to say "what do you want me to do" as he shrugged his shoulders, but luckily another lady came in and apologized and offered to remake it. As she remade it, I asked her if it is halal, just to be sure, and to my surprise she said the beef is not halal. She told me that the beef is not shawarma meat, it is not actual beef, and therefore is not halal? The chicken and lamb are apparently halal, but not the beef gyro. This poses contamination issues as the same area and utensils are used to process and assemble the halal and non halal meat. Now she did point to a sign on the side of the store that says halal chicken, which I had not noticed before entering as it was not on the front. However, this is confusing as a customer because if you advertise something as halal, especially at a place that serves shawarma, I think it is common to assume that the place itself serves all halal food. The sign also did not mention that the lamb is halal, even though it is. Because I was too embarrassed already having her remake the wrap, I took the non halal gyro even though I am not meant to eat it due to religion. If this place wants repeating customers, I suggest better, kinder service and more clear labelling and pricing. Forgot to mention that there is no seating area. Update after owners response: I apologize for the misinformation regarding contamination, but based on the tone of the response, it's unfortunate that there is a lot more blaming towards the customer rather than an apology or a nice clarification, which is just unprofessional from a business. The attitude from the people in the store is what made me not want to request a new sandwich, again, because I was nervous. This response just certifies that negativity that I felt whilst in store.
