Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery - Ottawa, Ontario

It was odd to be waiting long minutes before someone show up at the reception desk on a Tuesday night. Thankfully the waitress made up for it. The food was ok and it was particularly loud in the dining room.

We usually love BigRig, but our last visit fell flat. The kids menu burger was comically small. The same size as one of three mini burgers that came with a kids meal at a competitor. The servers were very inattentive, all huddled in the server station and ... seemed annoyed when they had to go to their tables. We eventually had to get up to ask for a box and the bill. We asked for an ingredient to be left off the pizza and it was on it, and the server never came to see how our food was. They also did offer the dessert included in the kids meal, despite me mentioning we were there to celebrate my son's birthday (they also told us they don't do candles/birthdays). Nice place! Music wasn't too loud so able to speak probably and food was amazing. Large classic pizza was amazing.

I hadn't been to Big Rig in awhile as I wasn't impressed the last few times I was at the Pinecrest location, but I have never been at this location so thought I'd give it a try. I was at the movie theatre nearby a few weeks ago and after ... the show, we ventured over to Big Rig. It was extremely quiet and almost looked closed (it was after 10pm) but when we went inside we were warmly welcomed and there were people in the bar area. Our server, Yasmin, was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, welcoming, personable and made our visit! She also gave us advice on our orders (my friend was trying to decide between a couple things) and everything was fantastic. I was disappointed that the Turkey Dinner was gone from the menu, but I tried their Greek Chicken dish and it was excellent. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes was worth the visit alone! My friends enjoyed their fish and chips (she recommended it) and a burger. All-round delicious food and we were all very much impressed with the place! I think we're going to become regulars, and we'll ask for Yasmin every time we go! She's amazing! Great food, great beer, and great service. Nice selection of craft beers on tap. And our server was awesome, we were a large group but she asked for and remembered everyone's name throughout service, which really added a nice personalized touch to the experience.
