Pong’s Poutine - Ottawa, Ontario

I heard raving reviews about this place and was finally able to give them a try since they opened later on Friday. We tried the Thanksgiving poutine and one of the meaty poutines (can't remember the name). They were both good and big portions but I did find the fries ... to be quite thin/small. This is the first time I've ever left a bad review for any business. Absolutely the worst fries I have ever been served. Simply a box of old cold soggy fries. Clearly as no one was around at 2:20PM - so they dumped whatever bits and pieces of ... fries they had left in the fryer pan and did not bother to make any fresh ones. The family size poutine LOOKS impressive, but the fries were so overcooked. The grease was really dirty and tasted awful. The curds were fantastic - but it's impossible to mess that up. The gravy was boring. The price was great, at $16. You get a lot of food for the price. ... But does it matter when it isn't very good? The soda that was provided wasn't very cold. Atmosphere is abysmal. Out in the middle of no where, people smoking nearby where the tables are located, horse manure stink all over. First time and last time trying this place out. I am a poutine guy, I’ve always loved the warm gravy and cheesy goodness. Hands down, this is the best poutine I’ve had in my life. I recommend his specials, the guy knows how to cook.

Seriously the best poutine in Ottawa. The fries stay crispy, the gravy is delicious, the curds are super flavorful and all for a very good price. We spent 15$ for two people and we were both full since they really fill up the containers. Can't wait to go back! Staff ... were super friendly and sweet too! Read more
