Newfoundland Pub - Ottawa, Ontario

Went there once with my cousin 20 years ago. Seemed like a decent place, nothing out of the ordinary one way or the other. Decided to return last year when I was just walking by. It has now been transformed into a dive for HONKY-TONK! No live entertainment but instead ... there was a projector showing the SILHOUETTE of a woman writhing on a screen. I’ll be honest, I did t have the food, so I can’t fairly rate it. I was there for the first time to play pool with a friend. But the gentleman working the bar was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Most people would think the bad was “dated”. But I ... liked the place. It reminded me of being back home in the village a few up in. A smaller tavern with cool old photos of local kids teams and trophies from local leagues. License plates and old cool pics. It looks like they have karaoke. And now that I know they have food, I’ll have to give it a try. I still suck at pool though. But I had fun. Thanks. Once I have the food I’ll adjust the food rating. I had a really pleasant experience eating here. Kudos to both my server, who was very attentive, and the chef, whose fish and chips plus house salad was quite good. Thanks to them, I would be happy to come back here.

We came in for lunch and we’re not disappointed! This place definitely has a neighbourhood pub atmosphere… warm and inviting. The food was really good, too. If you ask for it (because it is not on the menu) you can get fries and dressing with gravy! This ... was a comfort food landfall … I would probably have been better off just ordering this and maybe I wouldn’t have eaten so much LOL. The cod was just too tasty to leave behind, though. I heard this restaurant has a long history, beloved by local people! The breakfast is until 2 p.m. during the weekends. I had Old-fashioned, and this traditional western breakfast attracted me a lot! I would love to try other menus here.
